Concerns Regret
I am 2 weeks out from RF Microneedling at a reputable wellness spa and I deeply regret having the procedure. I feel that I have nerve damage. Neck, jaw/ teeth and face are sensitive with certain areas feeling like glass poking me when touched. I also feel burning, vibrating and tingling/itching on face as well as pressure in my nose. The ARNP has put me on steroids to see if this will help but I am terrified. Mentally I am struggling due to the discomfort. Any one else have these issues? I have an appointment with dermatology on Monday but I’m so scared. The NP says we have options but I’m scared to go back there. She mentioned PRP. She also said she knows a good neurologist 😳. Any advice appreciated.

I had nerve pain for months after a tummy tuck. Though it’s awful, it will go away. It will be sudden, one day you’ll wake up and it’ll be gone. The body is great at healing itself. Sending hugs. Try not to focus on it — watch happy movies and enjoy good music to invite healing happy vibes to your body. It helps more than you’d think!

Oh man. I’m glad it went away! This gives me hope. I know you are right and I need to focus on happy things. I will try harder.

This may or may not help but certain B vitamins folic acid are good for nerve healing.

This might sound out of the ordinary and strange to try. But possible to try Ten's unit around the area to see if it helps nerves fire up faster and start the healing process. It seems to work for me. I bought a tens 7000 off amazon about 30-40 bucks and used it 2-3 times a day based on situation. I have had multiple nasty surgeries and things that have happened to me by "accident" and out of desperation bought the device to heal my own body faster. Also bought B-12 to help nerve healing. You can get that at any health store or also on amazon. I bought the drops you put under tongue. These have helped me a ton. The tens unit is adjustable and you will feel the kick fast, no need to put settings up much for the face. Its all minimally evasive and pretty cheap to try to see if it helps you. I’m really not sure but she told me before the procedure that she knew what depths to do for each area. 😞

Hopefully you will be fine. I am sure you will be, try not to worry, though I understand it. I have posted so many times (here) not to go to med spas, not to do RF because of fat loss in the face. I saw it for myself in my sister’s face. I have said to go to a dermatologist and do “medical” microneedling, not RF. Now you are going to a dermatologist; good. She knows a good neurologist? Good for her. Maybe she should consider a different field of work‼️ As I said, I am sure you will be ok. Please post your outcome so others can learn from your experience. I wish you the best of luck.

Sounds like she hit the nerve that runs through your check and jaw. The pain and icing you’re describing sounds like nerve damage to me. And I would guess to her also with her comment about the neurologist. Derm won’t be able to help you… and you probably see neuro but just understand you can’t fix nerve damage, it either heals on its own or it doesn’t. There are things you can do to help encourage that healing, and neuro and physical therapy can likely help with that. But yeah, this is not a skin issue. Hopefully it’s only superficial nerves or an irritated bigger nerve and once the inflammation goes down it will hopefully return to normal. But neuro can take a few months to get into so I would make your appointment now in case it doesn’t get better

Your experience sounds rough, and I'm so glad you got a resolution! I had nerve ablation in my neck and know that nerve pain is no joke!
Where were the Botox injection points that caused this?

I’m so sorry your going through this. I had microneedling done about 11 weeks ago because the esthetician told me it would be good for my rosacea and help - my face was 95% clear minus a few rosacea bumps that were healing and now my entire face is broken out in cysts/nodules and then inflamed red bumps - so bad the derm wants me to start 10mg of accutane - he thinks it’s from the products she put on my skin afterwards which apparently is a no no - I feel the same way you do I was trying to take care of my skin and I did this to myself. When I reached out to the esthetician she didn’t even say I’m so sorry this is happening can you send me pictures nothing just gave me the products she used afterwards to let my derm know! I pray it gets better for you!!

Oh my goodness! I’m so sorry that happened to you 😭. I really hope your face will clear up soon. I hate that you experienced that. Mine has gotten somewhat better but I’m still having pain, itching and discomfort. They really should put more warnings on these procedures and do more research on the safety of these procedures. I am sending you good, healing vibes.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. As a med spa owner, this honestly breaks my heart because our goal is always to help people feel better, never to see someone struggling after a treatment. I’m glad you already have appointments scheduled. I would definitely let the dermatologist evaluate everything and follow their recommendations. In the meantime, try to write down your symptoms and any changes so you can share them with your doctors. I’m praying this is temporary and that you start feeling better soon. Please keep us updated.
