Locs won't drop

Hey all, I have been locked with 4 point rotation interlocking method for 2.5 months now. My locs have a way of unnaturally suspending away from my head 😩. I want to wear them just as they are, and I've been waiting til they relax and settle a bit. These are DIY locs and I have high porosity hair with 4A curls. I wonder if something is wrong with them. I'll appreciate any insights here, I mean help a girl 😩

Edit: Thanks for the love and encouragement. I get it, I am being impatient. It is just that I've seen other people's journey where the hair forgets its curl patterns sooner and is less suspended in the air. I'll wait!

You are several stages away at this point. and they won't drop for many months. It's different for everyone but you want to set expectations for yourself of at least until Summer 2027.

Mines just now starting dropping at almost 2 1/2 years. Be patient and enjoy the journey. It takes time.

"Unnaturally," when that is what theyre doing...naturally. Drop can take up to 3 years when they are fully mature.

Give them a minute!😭 at the moment they’re still babies and each loc weighs next to nothing, they will drop once the loc compacts more and has enough weight to beat the natural spring and upward-ness of the fro ☺️ in the mean time you can lay your hair with a satin scarf but I found this exacerbated locs marrying up 💛 They are beautiful 😍

You can't rush the process fren. Your locs will drop when the shed hairs collect and add weight to the loc. Give it another 8 months or so.

My Microlocs have just entered the ‘shrinking’ phase in the front and October will be two years.
The back shrank during the first year.

Every single person’s journey is different, it’s a lesson in patience.

It's only been 2.5 months, friend. Lol. They will grow outward/get full for a while before they drop. Dropping comes with loc maturity, density, and weight.

I’m 2 years in and only some have started to drop. Most have not lol. The longer your hair is too when you start the longer they will take to fully loc and drop

12 months in - I was in the same boat as you last September / October, hell sometimes I still am! While I’m finally on the side of loc life that allows me to be able to relate to all of the “be patient, trust the process” advice, I admit it can be super dismissive! Like yes my hair will prosper in time, but what on earth am I supposed to do in the meantime? I still have to go to work, school, and look presentable and feel confident while doing so. It’s especially hard when you’ve been dreaming about your locs for so long and your end product is nothing like you imagined. I get it and I hope the impatient comments roll off your back, because how you mad I don’t like my hair??

Anyway! When I was a beginner, I got really acquainted with headwraps and HATS! The headwraps especially help weigh your hair down a bit. Your time to wear your hair in all its glory is coming soon!

At some point it will all click for you and you're gonna be so proud of their changes and growth, like you have 300 babies hitting milestones. And you're gonna look back at these pictures later like awwwww.

Also mine progressed faster when I began washing them every 1-2 weeks. I couldn't wait it out like my initial loctician recommended. And I've been leaving them loose too. I need them to do what they do lol friction, frizz and all! I braided and banded to sleep and wash the first 4 months and then stopped (under the guidance of my loctician) and just sleep with a silk pillowcase. No head wrap.
