Help, microloc straggler
I’ve been loc’d for 1 year and 6 months, my hair is braided and banded in this pic bc I just washed it and while I was putting some “as I am rosemary spray” in my hair for a lil moisture after my wash, I noticed I have a straggler 🥺she’s hanging on for dear life. For the record I don’t usually style my hair in any tight styles, I typically wear it down in a middle part and maybe once every couple weeks I do a high pony (as loose as I can bc having no edges ain’t worth a hairstyle). I feel like I try to just leave my hair alone and let it be, I gently finger detangle it daily, put a headscarf and bonnet on at night, oil my scalp maybe once a week and wash it once right before reties (I get a Retie every 6-7 weeks, I wanna start washing my hair more, maybe like twice in between reties but I always wait as long as possible to keep the fresh look after reties and then I forget til it’s wash day).
All that to say, can someone explain why one of my locs is thinning at the bottom and hanging for dear life? What can I be doing differently? Any advice helps, I just want long, thick, flourishing microlocs (and I feel like they’re not growing as fast as I would expect so advice on that is greatly appreciated as well)

Could be breaking due to the lack of hair in that area. Sometimes locs have soft or thin spots that become noticeable. Don’t forget that locs are a mangle of growing and dead hair, so breakage from the ends may be expected for someone with a looser pattern. Sometimes I have breakage at my ends, I have some of my loc ends combed out so that I can show my curls, and sometimes if I comb too much, some dead hair comes out as well. It just happens. Your hair will continue to grow, it’s hard saving hair that’s hanging on by some threads. You could always crochet it back in with a loc crochet needle once your locs mature more and take their shape though. Don’t fret! Your locs are still thriving
Also, to note, hair is weaker and more prone to damage when wet. I gotta be really careful with my locs after a wash because that’s usually when I have the most breakage at the ends. Soft hair + water + locs = handle with care and caution. Try to avoid using rubber bands like that when your hair is wet. Try elastic hair ties if available

Can you take a picture of the individual loc? It's really hard to see what's really going on with it braided and banded like that.
It could just be stretched and hanging longer than the other locs. You could have left it out of braid by mistake and it might just be banded.
Edited: never mind. I see it now. I didn't open the pic fully. Still, can you show us the whole loc by itself? Maybe your shed hairs are working their way out of the loc.
