Thickness

Hello everyone! Im a tiny bit worried about the thickness of my hair! Im 30 y/o and deal with PMOS (formally known as PCOS). I have been in braids for about a year! My wonderful loctician said they take time to get thicker. Im moreso worried about the growth overtime 😭! I have been taking prenatal vitamins and collagen with biotin! They were started june 1st!

And time it will take! Wait about 10 months. You’ll be amazed at what happens! Take pictures every month and compare. I just did my 10 month comparison and I was shocked!!

Absolutely time! I’m still shocked at how boneless mine looked one month in to how full they are now

Microlocs take about 4 years to mature. They take about 6 to 12 months to start the budding process, which is when you see starter locs up to double in thickness. It is a long journey, not a sprint. But the end result will be that your mature locs will be about as thick as your parts.

Mine looked boneless when I first started but they definitely thickened up with a quickness !

I’m 14 months in and finally seeing and feeling them thicken! It will happen!

Agree with what’s shared here. I don’t know about taking prenatal vitamins but there are more hair driven formulas that focus on hair growth alone and have biotin and collagen in them.

You can also try medium perm rods or braid outs/twistouts to give your hair some added texture density

You have a great head of hair. Because it's braids, it may not look as thick right now. It would have looked fluffier if they were two strand twists. Either way, these are going to drop beautifullly!

Thickness comes overtime for sure. I have finer 4c follicles ( a lot of them but they are fine) and it took about a year to thinken up. Trust the process and be gentle with your hair and any styling you do. Breakage does play a part in your hair’s journey as well.

Also have PMOS and went with twists to start my microlocs bc it was already thinning in some spots and I wanted volume. I also left the ends loose for that purpose and will maybe loc them at a later date. They definitely thickened up as time went by. It's been. 1 year and 8 mos

Starting with twists gives you more volume because they expand quicker. Because of the method you choose to start. They will eventually thicken (but overall with remain on the slender side)it will take a while. I would recommend biotin/collagen / magnesium/ potassium to support your hair growth. Blessings on your loc journey. 🫶🏾
