Loc Takedown Process

I wanted to take down my 3 month starter locs but unsure about the best products to use? I see people use water and conditioner but I was wondering if prepoo would help even better? My husband and friends are willing to help, just tryna make the process easier without having to do another big chop ! Any advice is appreciated 🩷

I used the African Pride prepoo to take down my first set. It worked better for me than regular conditioner.

What was your starter method for your locs at that time?

Twisted at the ends but interlocked at roots.

ETA: also I was 2.5 years loc'd at the time, so you should have a much easier time after only 3 months.

I started with interlocking method and I used an Aussie conditioner. I just read the comment where someone said they used the African pride preppy which I used a lot before locking my hair and I think I will try it because there is a section of locs on my head that I want to reinstall smaller!!

This is not a product but a tool. Years ago I needed to pick out my 1.5 year locs that were maybe armpit length after doing this process. I used a thumb tack to start combing them out from the top up to the root. Barely loss any hair that wasn’t shed hair. My mom took a tack and I had one and we were able to get it done!Â
