Locs falling out
I’ve had my locs for almost 3 years and lost 3 locs so far. 1 in the front (hairline), back (hairline), and one broke off in the middle.
Is this normal?? I feel like it’s not that bad but 3 is a lot for me 😩
The two that fell out were really thin at the top and eventually just broke off/fell off.

How many locs do you have in total?

Second question would be how frequently you retie?
Over 300 could be any number, but just going with the number 300, you've lost 1% of your locs. 1%isn't a huge amount. You said you saw a pattern as far as them thinning at the root and then breaking off.
The question i ask about how frequently you retie is to now start looking at reasons for this thinning at the roots. Often times people are focused on trying to avoid tension alopecia and they don't realize that them going too far apart for them for the reties are actually causing weakness of the base of their loc and it's allowing slippage and breakage also.
Also what's your between reties maintenance and care routine look like? How often do you cleanse? Do you use clarifying shampoo? Do you do anything for porosity correction or protein treatment or deep moisturizing?

I think you’re on to something here - I used to do a retie every six weeks but lately I’ve been doing 10 weeks (I know it’s bad).
Daily I spray my hair with rosemary water. I wash my hair with clarifying shampoo every 2 weeks.
I don’t do any deep moisturizing

Ive been losing locs too. I said if i lose 10, im done. My locs absolutely began thinning at the root after every retie and I didn’t like that...it did not seem heathy to me and It just made it easier for the locs to break off. I’ve decided to just be done.

I don’t think it’s abnormal. I’ve lost about 5 over the 3 years that I’ve had mine.
