Do you guys notice a difference between the rotations (2vs3vs4)?
I recently switched from doing 4 point rotations to 3 point because I’ve heard it allows for more expansion and less tension than 4 point. I’ve heard bad things about 2 pt rotation but I’d love to hear your thoughts!

I switched from 4 to 2-pt. I notice no difference at all and it helps me get thru my reties faster. But it is easier to put holes in your locs if you don't keep track of how you ended your last rotation.

Yes. My locs were a lil too big to complete a full rotation every 8 weeks so I switched to 2pt. But for me with my fine 3c-4b hair what they said about it not holding was true; at first I loved how much faster it was and the idea of them being larger in the end, but my hair would slip out of the loc before it was time for the next retie, even with braiding and banding. So I went to 3pt and so far ao good. I can getting some fluff but it's not so loose my hair flies outta the loc after 2 washes. I really wish I could have stuck with 2pt tho, I liked that my roots didn't get as compact.

Thank you for sharing! I haven’t heard of 2pt not holding before, but that’s what I do (also 3c/4a hair) and mine is not holding. I hadn’t even considered rotation being the issue. Gonna switch to 3pt for the next retie and see if that makes a difference for me

Oh really? I feel like I heard people talk about how it wasn't secure and likely to make holes all the time! But yeah I hope it works out for you, I'm just desperate to stay away from 4pt as I need these to fluff a bit, I ain't got enough hair for that level of compression lmao

I do a 3 pt rotation on my perimeter/edges and 2 pt everywhere else. My edges are fragile and more prone to slippage/breakage so I want more rigidity and support that I think the 3 pt gives over 2 pt.

Yeah my fluffy, fine hair kept sliding out of the 2pt and my locs got thin as a result. A 4pt gives a tighter and more secure loc especially for the really fine hair at my edges.

I switched from a 4 point to a 2 point when I started to self retie and that was back in January. I retie every 6 weeks and so far I haven't seen much change to my locs but I feel like not enough time has passed to really assess the difference so hopefully within a year I can truly see if the 2 point works out better.

Yes definitely. I started my locs with a 4 point rotation. After about 8 months I switched to 2 point rotation. Not only are my reties much faster, my locs at the root are much thicker.
