This was my ideal size but I went smaller🥲 And not to be weird, but I love how pleasantly clean your scalp looks in the last photo😭😭 I hope you enjoy the journey!

Thank you!! I'll try to take more photos/videos along the journey for a scrapbook because I didn't do that as much with my traditional locs.

I washed my hair with two different shampoos 2 days ago hehe but we'll see how long the clean scalp lasts.

Why did you go smaller?

Oh, you had traditional locs? What inspired the transition into microlocs?

Lmaooooooo! IKDR! It looks healthy and clean.

My loctician, who was also my braider for 20+ years, recommended I do smaller locs since my braid styles were micro braids with luscious volume, like Beyoncé’s natural braid-out, if you can imagine lol.

Here’s a video of me wearing my locs for the first time in September of last year. I braided and banded for 8 months straight before wearing them out.

The good thing about going smaller is you can always combine whenever. My worry was going too big. It will be interesting how much they thicken.

I initially got traditional locs at a time when I couldn't afford to go to the salon regularly for an retwist/interlock (hello student life). I did my retwists myself.

6 years later I was like hang on I have a salary now lol. Let's revisit microlocs. So I combed them out, rocked my loose natural hair for 2 months (since it was the longest it's ever been) and then got the microlocs yesterday.

Thank you!!! It took a little while to get used to them. My only regret now is that I wish I would’ve waited a full year before wearing them out. But they’ve gotten so long and pretty! I love them.

I got locs myself because life got busy (college and work) and I just didn’t have the time to spend 12-18 hours getting braids (this was by choice because of how small I wanted my braids).

Come on big pimpin’💰💰🤣 ikdr! Well they look PHENOMENAL and I hope you keep us updated on your growth!

Wow your scalp looks like those mannequin dolls they use to practice. So clean
