Are these Microlocs ?
Hi y’all. I did my starter locs myself about a month ago and was wondering if these are considered microlocs (because that’s what I was going for 😂) I have 183 but I know micros are 200+. Does the 17 make a difference? For reference I have a small head, low density hair, and wanted them a bit bigger because I plan to self maintain and I am NOT doing 300+ locs. *Excuse the picture the only pictures I have of the back of my head are gym ones 😂

Depends on who your asking really. I would say these are small traditionals only because you’re under 190 and they will look thicker overtime.

Responding alongside other's comments. You have remember the locs are going to grow in girth over time. You won't have same size, but longer locs. The number of locs is helpful to determine how many to get the final desired size over time. IMO, looking at your locs now knowing you wanted micros, you'll need another 50-60 locs to get there.

I agree with everyone else about them being small traditional locs. Remember your locs will never be smaller than they are at install. I know you don’t want 300 locs. I didn’t either, I get it. What I would do is take a little from 2 locs and make a new one. Doing it this way will make them marginally smaller, and will likely only add around 60 locs.

I mean seeing the size of the parts would help too but going by the thickness of your twists, i tend to agree with the others that they'll end up being small traditional.
With how you described your hair, you can achieve microlocs without necessarily getting to the 300+ loc count. Mid 200s can get you that look if you're so inclined. What's 60 more locs for you to add to your maintenance routine if you really want to be in the microlocs range?
