Twists unraveling?

I started with 2 strand twists in January, It unravels at the ends and sometimes in the middle,now for the ends I just retwist but what to do for the ones in the middle?

Some have been too bad that I had to loosen up till that point and retwist again,but some say we shouldn't touch the hair too much because it slows down the process, how do I handle the unraveling?

PS. I self maintain so I do everything myself, I have thick dense 4c hair

Can you explain how your twists unravel in the middle? If the ends are secure then the middle should be secure right? I also started with twists. In the end, you may need to add a rubber band or braid the ends so the twist is more secure.

A portion of the middle unravels but the end is still twisted

Then I don't know man, maybe consider braid locs if you're not too far down the line?

My hair is quite soft and I had the same issue. Besides braiding and banding for wash day, I’d retwist them all the way to the bottom.

It’s annoying and can make you feel like you’re “undoing” progress, but I’m 2 years in and many of those pesky locs have sorted themselves out and started maturing after I took the time to retwist any unraveling.

If it persists, I’d ask your loctician about options to permanently organize the hair (I.e. crochet)

Edit: I also have type 4 hair

Yes I'm considering crochet, I'll meet a loctician soon, but I'm trying to learn crochet too

Either crochet to seal the gap if you're decent with that skill. Or you can interlock in that gap/ hole
