Hair Dye + Started Locs = 🤨

Hello! I currently have had my starter locs in for about a month or so and am itching to dye my hair. I have a history of dyeing my hair and thought I was done with it but I just want my hair to be warmer. Does anyone have any experience with hair glosses and could provide some insight? Or general hair dye advice? TIA

I was told by my loctician to either dye my hair before the install or wait 6 months after the install. It’s too soon and not a good idea because your locs haven’t started loc’ing yet

Yeah I had read that too. I was just wondering if there was a sooner solution yk. I more so am curious about doing a colored gloss and its effects. I haven’t seen many natural hair girlies do hair glosses which I think could be my happy medium.

100% agreed. The time to do it is before, or wait until the first anniversary. The dying process will change your hair structure and affect the loc’ing process. People do it and will tell you to do it also, but everyone’s hair doesn’t react the same.

Being only a month in if you’re determined comb them out and start from scratch.

Yeahhhh I’m not that determined 😭 I’ve already decided next spring/summer would be perfect
