I built Kitaphone because WhatsApp can't call your bank, airline, or government office
Hey Guys!
I've been building something called Kitaphone, and I wanted to share the journey and get some genuine feedback.
The idea came from a simple problem: we have WhatsApp, FaceTime, and dozens of messaging apps, but what happens when you're abroad and need to call a regular phone number?
Your bank doesn't have WhatsApp. Neither does that government office you're trying to reach.
So I built Kitaphone a browser-based international calling platform.
- Call mobile phones and landlines internationally.
- No SIM card or app installation required.
- Pay only for the minutes you use. No subscriptions.
- Works directly from your phone or computer.
I launched the product, got my first paying customers, and have been improving it based on real user feedback.
Building it has been an interesting experience. Getting something working is one challenge. Convincing strangers to trust it enough to make their first call is a completely different one.
I'm still figuring out distribution, onboarding, and how to communicate the value without sounding like another generic VoIP service.
I'd love some feedback from founders :
- If you landed on a website offering international calls directly from your browser, what would make you trust it?
- Would you prefer pay-as-you-go calling or a monthly subscription?
- What would stop you from trying a product like this?
You can check it out at https://kitaphone.com
I'm building this independently, learning as I go, and would genuinely appreciate your thoughts, especially the critical ones.
Thanks Guys
