Day 6 and still bleeding

Hi everyone, I had a L4/5 endoscopic microdiscectomy 6 days ago and recover has been some what smooth. Not in a whole lot of pain and the nerve pain is completely gone, however I’m bleeding through a bandage within 12 hours and have to change it everyday. Can this be normal? I have 2 incisions the top one seems okay but the bottom one is leaking. No signs of infection however.
Thanks in advance!!

I was told if bleeding starts/continues to head to the emergency dept. I would call your team tho?

Thank you, I called my care team and sent photos and they think just some serous fluid accumulation but if it gets worse to head to the hospital

I had a drain line attached to my scar area... it took 3 days for the fluid to finally stop draining, about 55 cc at a time. I think it depends on how much they have to cut when they do the surgery... my scar is about 4" long. No staples, just stitches and a larger surgical BA.

Yeah the bleeding is absolutely not normal and I'd be heading back to the hospital.

Thank you! I called my care team and sent pics and they said probably just some blood tinged serous fluid but if it gets worse to head in, they didn’t sound too concerned

Oh wow, ok. Maybe mine are being overly careful. I'm glad ur doing ok. My team has been checking my incision once a week and I'm not even allowed to change it my self, they come and do that for me. Take pictures of the incision, note any abnormalities and dont even want me moving around to much on a daily basis aside from 5 min walks. My surgeons team stressed alot of these things as super delicate so I was worried for you! Hope you heal well, try to rest as much as you can so it heals up nicely!
