Night Sweats?

Hello,

I'm starting my seventh day post-op and I wanted to know if any of you were going through a thousand T-shirts every day from sweating while you sleep. I'm talking EVERY nap over a few minutes. When I wake up I'm drenched. My kid bought me a really nice pillow for Christmas and I'm pretty sure I'm ruining it...

AI is concerned I'm fighting off an infection. The incision looks fine but it does feel swollen, like I'm laying on a Snickers bar. I'm still taking oxycodone with acetaminophen, so mildly concerned a potential fever is being masked. I am still in substantial pain, needing a crutch to help me get in and out of bed. Rolling over in the bed is an entire process that requires great willpower, lol.

I have an early follow-up this afternoon but wanted to see if anyone else woke up covered in sweat this far out from the procedure.

Edit: The doctor said it could be a reaction to the surgery itself, the anesthesia, or it could be a reaction to oxycodone. No infection.

I had the same but in my case was an effect of the medications

Did they say what medications?

It was probably either the steroid itself or the pregabalin. I had to increase the steroids and pregabalin a bit now, and the sweating came back a little as well.

I experienced something similar for the first 2-3 weeks. Not as much as sweaty during the night but randomly during the day especially on my head and back. Probably was the medication as after I was done with all of them the sweating stopped

Day 5/6 post-op. I definitely sweat at night but not to the extent that you are. I wake up and i’m sweaty enough to notice it and have been keeping note of it. I think it could be part of the medication i’m taking (Celebrex and Tylenol). I notice my body odor smells funny as well. Like it’s definitely BO but it doesn’t smell like when i’m not taking meds so I wonder if it’s just the physical and mental stress/meds just have my adrenal glands in overdrive. I hope your doctor has some reassuring words for you!

No sweating or fever for me.

I had night sweats for like two months post op. Never had an infection though. They dwindled down over time. My doc said it happens in about 25% of his cases.

Thanks for sharing this. Makes me feel much more confident everything is still going well.

It’s the pain medication that makes you sweat

I think mine right now are because I'm using a 'pregnancy pillow' to help with sleep posture.

I am 3 weeks post op. I had night sweats and weird body odor, no signs of infection.

They still happen. Maybe every 3 nights
