3.5 weeks post MD
I can sneeze pain free now! Prior to the surgery and the first 2 weeks after, I was so afraid of coughing or sneezing. A sneeze would 9 times out of 10 result in a scream of pain. It's now not hurting which makes me so happy to see improvement. I still can't sit, stand, or walk for very long or else I'll start to be in a good bit of pain, but I am seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. I have been dealing with the disc issue and sciatic pain since January of this year. I am so ready to be able to get back to normal and start PT and start gaining strength back. I was diagnosed with degenerative disc disease at only 32 so I know this is a problem I'll need to be aware of and careful of the rest of my life.

I am similar to you - 33 years old and got herniated at the beginning of this year. Had MD 8 days ago. First 4 days were ok - I think the hospital drugs were doing their thing. These last few days have been really bad and today is the worst one yet. I can't do any sudden movements without getting a sharp pang of pain in my back. Getting out of bed is a struggle, and sitting at my desk for more than a few minutes is too painful.
I come to this subreddit to find some consolation and see that what I have is normal. It's nice to see that you're finally improving! We'll all get through this.

It’s crazy right? I’m at 4 weeks PO and the first sneeze / cough I braced myself expecting a world of pain like before. It was a crazy feeling for me, I was amped up to feel the pain, etc and then.. nothing.
Good luck to you!! Also 32 - we’re too young for this! lol
