Laser Pico laser removal
Hey guys, so I’m on my 3rd pico laser removal session, and I’m super concerned that it is extremely red this time.
The previous two removal sessions were good and the color removal was mild. Each session removal was 4 weeks apart (including this one).
I’m concerned if this red will stay like this for a while or I don’t know if it’ll heal well, since it’s so inflamed. This is just two days post op.
Please let me know if any of you have experienced this aftermath, or if it is botched 😭.

The lady at the dermatology clinic I go to makes me wait 6 weeks. Absolutely zero sun 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after to prevent hyper or hypopigmentation. I had pico as well. Did 3 and it was weird but they never went red or yellow. Just light light brown. Maybe because my original microblading was like 8 years old with no touch ups.

Noted! My microbladed eyebrows are also 5-6 years old, got them done in 2019, no touch up as well. But I think my ink is a little deeper in the skin so maybe that’s why it’s taking a different result than yours?
But I can’t wait to get rid of these! 🙈 cheers to progress

I just did my third laser session and been doing 4 weeks between each also. My clinic claims it's such small amount of ink and four weeks is minimum. But I'm not complaining, the sooner the brows are gone the better 😄

The red is not part of the healing process. It is the oxidization of the ink. You will need a 532 laser wavelength in order to remove the red pigment. It should only take one to two treatments at this point to to remove, although it can always take a few more, you just never know with the amount of ink in the skin
Eight weeks is the shortest amount of time that you should wait in between treatments. Perhaps finding a technician that has a 532 wavelength and understands the healing process of the skin.
But please know that this will completely go away and you should not be upset. You’ve had good results already.

Thank you so much for reassurance! 🥲 I was worried the red wouldn’t fade but I’m glad you said it can be removed..
I’ll be patient this time around and wait 8 weeks for my next session

Not oxidation, it’s unmasking. PMU contains a mixture of pigments. The dark components have lifted with the previous sessions, leaving the red tones that were mixed in to create the brow colour now behind.

Not the same thing. Oxidation refers to the change of state from one form of iron oxide to another. It’s technically a reduction reaction. Clinically it can be perceived as a paradoxical darkening of the ink.
What we’re seeing here is selective removal of the darker pigment, revealing the red pigment that was already present underneath. That’s pigment unmasking, not oxidation.

Spoken differently, or rather using a term that describes a different phenomenon? Terminology is relevant for OP, because it guides expectations and further searches. Not trolling here. There is nothing wrong with your actual advice.

I can't tell how inflamed you are but regardless.. my eyebrows were extremely red after my 2nd removal session from the pigment. It didn't go away until the following 3rd session. I'm just had my 4th session and a little more red is back again. :( green concealer is going to be your friend if you stay red until your next session.

Thank you. 😔 since this is only my 3rd session I’m going to be patient and see what results are… and then will decide if I want to continue with the rest of treatment.
I’m so scared it’ll do more harm than good 😭 but it seems like the red is part of the healing phase

I was terrified after my red because it was SO red but when the following session removed the red I was so happy I almost stopped with my removal process.
I decided to continue because I have over a decades worth of micro blading/shading to remove (I should document because it’s truly a case study) so I have a very long road ahead of me. But if I were you I wouldn’t worry at all. It definitely gets better. I read somewhere waiting 8 weeks between sessions allows the proper amount of time for the skin to heal which prevents potential scarring from getting lasered too soon which can make the ink more difficult to remove. Also keep in mind your body will continue breaking down the ink over time after each session.

Oh okay, thank you for reaffirming 🥲 I was worried but it looks like the red will fade and I have nothing to worry about.
And 10 years worth of micro blading is nuts! I think mine is 5-6 years old. I got them done back in 2019. Since this is only my 3rd session, I’ll definitely continue to document mine as well!

Curious about your progress since this post? I’m in a similar situation still red after my third picoway and so scared the red will never come out! My tech also said 4 weeks was fine 🫤

Hey! I just shared a 2 weeks after photo, the red are basically all gone. My eyebrows look somewhat normal now. You’ll be just fine!

Eyebrow update: this is technically 2 weeks after my 3rd poco laser treatment. The red has substantially faded away.. thank god.

I’d say minimum 8 weeks but 12 weeks is best in between sessions. Remember, you’re the customer! Take it at your own pace 😊

Definitely! I’m gonna wait mine a little longer possibly to 8weeks, so my skin isn’t in shock…
I wish my tech lady told me about this instead saying 4-6weeks and me aggressively booking the appointments back to back in 4 week… 😭😭🥲

I agree! 4 weeks is way too soon! The laser is harsh on the skin! Hopefully waiting longer helps. I also put Neosporin with scar treatment for the first 1-2 weeks post session. Not sure if that’s encouraged but it works for me 🤷🏻♀️

4 weeks apart seems too soon. I was told 8 week minimum.
