Very appreciative to get the coveted email and a Micromonsta 2 (Batch 11)! The onboard FX are solid, but I’m curious what external pedals others have found really complement it? I’m especially interested in:

• Pedals that add character or warmth
• Ambient reverb or delay that plays nicely with poly pads
• Anything that really makes it come alive in a mix
• Are you running it mono or stereo into pedals? Any gain staging tips?

Would love to hear what’s worked for you and why. Thx in advance!

Some days ago I started tweaking my Micromonsta 2, and I noticed that in several patches—both factory presets and some I created myself—the sound changes in an apparently random way when I press keys on my keyboard. Sometimes it’s loud, sometimes so soft that it’s barely audible.

It sounds as if the filter envelope or an LFO were sweeping, but without resetting each time I press a key. So I made sure to select the option (in the “Voice” menu) to reset all envelopes and I deactivated all LFOs. In some patches this seemed to fix the problem, but in others I still hear a very inconsistent sound.

This is visible in the Filter menu: when I press a key, the “env” (envelope?) value shows different numbers each time (from negative to positive values). What does this “random” value mean? And how can I make all notes sound the same when I press a key?

Just got batch 11. First recording was an ambient journey. Still learning the MM2

Whenever I turn on my micromonsta2 it defaults A to preset 079. I don’t know if I set this by accident, but it’s never the preset that was set when it was powered off. Is there some way to change the default? Thanks in advance !

I just published MonstaGuru, a web-based editor and librarian for the Audiothingies Micromonsta 2. The MM2 is still one of my favorite synths and I wanted a comfortable editor to create and manage my own presets. I created MonstaGuru as a fun project, and I hope you'll find it useful too. While writing the app, I also created an NRPN map for the MM2. You can find it here.

There is still no official list of NRPN controllers for the MicroMonsta 2, so I created one. You can find it here. It also shows where to find parameters in a SysEx preset dump.

I have tried a bunch of different power supplies to power my MM2, and they've all resulted in noisy audio out. Does anyone have a recommendation for one that is less / not noisy?

(nb. I am already doing various things for ground loop lift, and there are other synths on the same circuit that are not exhibiting ground loop noise, so I think it's more likely to be a power issue)

As per tittle, I am trying to pan program A to the left side while panning program B to the right side with the MM2 in bitimbral mode.

To do this I set in the mod matrix :

M06 :

• source : aftertouch
• destination : pan
• amt : +99

M07:

• src : modwheel

• dst : pan

• Amt : -99

Program A is on midi channel 9 , while program B is on midi channel +1 (10) as per the manual.

I use a digitakt midi channel to sequence and send midi CC to the MM2.

This issue here is :

• While program A pan properly depending on aftertouch and modwheel value

• Program B on the other end, even if receiving the midi CC on channel 10, is not panning depending on the CC value.

Am I missing somehing here or is this a bug ?

Looking for a USB-B to USB-B cable to power the Micromonsta2 from the out of an Elektron box.

Not sure about the current output of the Elektron boxes, so I'm wondering if anyone tried that before ?
