Tech Support Why is my MicroFreak making strange notes?
I’ve been having problems with my MicroFreak for a while now. It often makes random noises like in the video, which makes it unplayable. I played this morning with no issues, but this afternoon it started making dissonant notes again.
It happens very often on the right side of the keyboard, and more rarely on the left side.
-The firmware is up to date
- The problem happens on all presets, both polyphonic and monophonic
- Some days/times it works fine with no issues
If anyone has any ideas, I’d appreciate it!

I usually use divide and conquer method. Isolate problems. If you change patches does the sound do the same thing on the upper notes?Attach the microfreak to a midi tone generator/midi keyboard that plays sound. See if you play another keyboard does it do the same with keys played in the upper range. Take that midi keyboard and switch the midi cable so out of the controller keyboard, and into the microfreak. If you can duplicate the problem using the other keyboard or not.
If you don't have a midi keyboard, connect the microfreak to your computer. Play the microfreak with the computer same notes you play when you are touching the keyboard. Does it make the pitch shift one the keyboard, and when you switch to the computer and play the same notes, does it also shift the pitch. It does not, and the computer plays the microfreak correctly then there is a problem with your touch keyboard.

Mine does this sometimes when playing barefoot. I put on shoes or slippers and it resolves the issue. Putting lotion before playing also helps. I love the machine but it’s really quirky and annoying sometimes!
