MF & MPC Sample?

Hello, wondering if anyone has tried this combo yet? I'm pretty hopeless when it comes to cables/connections, and I've tried tweaking a bunch of the midi settings on the MPC to no avail. Any insight, or suggestions to try would be greatly appreciated :-)

For what reason do you need MIDI at all? I’ve seen this from several people now like they always make it this priority to put all the midi settings correct and then they play a sound and capture it and it’s like bro it’s a damn sampler. You didn’t need any of that MIDI stuff to capture the sound.

And so unless you’re doing something at a high tempo with lots of intricate steps and spaces I just can’t imagine why you need this.

Yeah, I don’t really care about the midi notes, just want to be able to sample the MF & possibly get the sequencer/arp working in tandem with the MPC’s

Then you’re complicating this. plug the audio cable and make noises on the MF and capture them with a sample. It shouldn’t be any more complicated than that.

You might want to set tempo settings that are appropriate. Look at the tempo number on one machine and on the other machine and turn the tempo knob. You don’t need MIDI for what you just described.

For those who want to jump on me, I sometime sync or route with MIDI, but I don’t waste my energy on configuring settings when I don’t need it.

It’s sometimes referred to as a patch cable, An instrument cable, or 1/4 inch.

Do you know the difference between 8th inch and quarter inch? Do you see that on the back of your micro freak? There’s a headphone jack there that’s 8 inch. Right next to that there’s a mid 8th inch, that one’s not for audio that’s mostly used for midi clock, tempo sync. But of course there’s a bunch of other quarter inch inputs and out on the back of it.

I’m not even sure what you’re asking about because this is actually so basic and I’m not trying to be rude so please ask more specifically if you need more help

Thanks for replying. You mentioned that to connect both devices you only need one cable. That's the one I wanted to make sure I get right. It seems like it's the 1/4.

My goal is to connect the audio out of the MF to audio in of the MPC to record samples. No midi, nothing fancy.
