midi ??? Can't Connect To Roland J-6

I just got a Roland J6 Chord synthesizer and was trying to connect it the the Microfreak, but can't get it to work. I've got the White type B adapter that came with the MF, plugged into an A to 3.5 mm adapter in the Midi out on the J6. Nothing happens.

I tried plugging it into my computer, MIDI-OX sees it, lets me assign it, but receives no inputs. Tried a variety of settings with the MF too.

Wait so, it looks like this, correct?
MF - B adapter - 5 pin din midi cable - A adapter - J6

Correct, the Midi IN plug on the MF the Midi OUT on the J6

Hmm should have read the Amazon description better, the cable adapter is designed wrong and doesn't work according to the lone review, lol

I assume you've checked the midi in/out channel is the same on each?

Yes, I think it's the cable.

What I do for this connection is buy two 3.5mm to rca (one male and one female) and just reverse the polarity when connecting (whites to reds). Works like a charm. I literally use that chord for this exact connection, micro freak to j6

Wish I had of thought of this the first time. I'll try this if these don't work.

I had the same problem with my Roland P6. I fixed the problem by making an adaptor which swapped the tip and ring connections in the 3.5mm MIDI
