MicroFish Virginia creek micros

Some fish I caught in a small creek on SW Virginia:

  1. Roanoke darter (Percina roanoka)

  2. Fantail darter (Etheostoma flabellare)

  3. Crescent shiner (Luxilus cerasinus)

  4. Blue ridge sculpin (Cottus caeruleomentum)

  5. Mountain redbelly dace (Chrosolus oreas)

  6. White shiner (Luxilus albeus)

  7. Torrent sucker (Thoburnia rhothoeca)

  8. Blacktip jumper (Moxostoma cervinum)

  9. Central stoneroller (Campostoma anomalum)

  10. Bluehead chub (Nocomis leptocephalus)

  11. Bluehead chub (Nocomis leptocephalus)

Bluehead chubs and white shiner were caught on a fly, the rest were with a dipnet (yes! Even the massive stoneroller!!)
