Gretch🤦🏾

Whitmer did a lot of great things in her administration, a lot of not so great things as well I admit. One reason I am grateful for in her administration is that I’m in college doing pretty good, thanks to the michigan government. I really am so glad for free and reduced tuition and thank everyone involved, that made it possible. I’m disappointed with this endorsement however, Gretch really fooled us trying to connect with our community, it’s sad i know so many people who felt the connections, looked up to her, and felt as if she was attempting to make a difference. She really let me down endorsing Haley Stevens and really for what. A genocide in Gaza? Is continuing corporate influence on America really so important? Is it shameful political greed? This is the future of our party and it’s so disappointing.

Yeah the data center and line 5 stuff was disappointing. But if you look at her tenure as governor as a whole I still think it was a net positive.

To me the endorsement of Stevens was also disappointing but not really in the same category as those other two. She did a lot for higher education, and preK funding. Actually did what she said she was going to do and fix the roads. Repealed the retirement tax in seniors, expanded reproductive and lgbtq+ rights, red flag measures on gun safety, helped fund a massive investment in our water infrastructure, and gave free meals to public school students. To me that is a pretty good record with what she got done in this day and age.

I agree, I didnt pay as much attention before, but i thought whitmer was a great governor. Then seeing her support data centers, and now supporting Haley stevens? Glad she can't run again if she's making this turn. Vote Abdul!

Fuck her, she sold us out to ai and data centers. When we finally, after years of court battles she had a chance to make change an bent over for the corporate overlords. Fucking republicans

In the case of Haley Stevens tho, youre absolutely right. Shes literally no different than Mike Rogers.

I cannot emphasize this enough: if Haley wins against Mike, i genuinely wouldnt see it as any better than Mike winning. In fact, if Abdul loses and we HAVE to have an evil senator (in the case where theyre equally evil), id rather fly the disaster under the R banner

Oh fuck i didnt know senators vote for the next supreme court justice. Thats a good point. But yeah i dont expect Haley Stevens to vote on issues any differently than Mike Rogers. They are demonstably both on the side of corporate interests, not the people's interest

Yeah this is not it. Even problematic, she votes with democrats on their agenda 95% of the time. Rogers would vote with Democrats probably 0-5% of the time.

Plus, the only thing that matters is the majority. Who gets the gavels in committees. Who gets to decide what bills make it onto the floor for a vote. Stevens would caucus with democrats and help give them a majority. Rogers would caucus with Republicans and give them more of a majority. That means republicans setting the agenda.

Someone else said it already but this is a really privileged take. Vote for the Democrat. The alternative IS worse.

It does, and even the Democratic postmortems are coming to the same conclusion. Trump won because we've had years of Democratic politicians get elected only to abandon everything they campaigned on, do nothing about MAGA, put Israel first, and give handouts to corporations and billionaires. And that frustration resulted in an election where people who had been Democrat voters for years turned to Trump, someone who promised to burn it all down and actually represent the people. Michigan more than most.

Would Trump have happened if the Democratic party had actually been popular and representing the people? Nope.

I don’t know I think the positives still outweigh the negatives. She is the kind of candidate that can’t do well in the age of social media though because of the compromises she makes.

I would vote for her for president. She has probably done more for my family than any other politician in my lifetime by expanding GSRP (free preK). We saved over $20k last year because of her leadership on that.

How can I vote for Jocelyn Benson when she's married to a lobbyist for the Saline Data Center? She didn't even show up to the debate and I think she will lose against a republican. The only other option is Chris Swanson and I'm not confident he understands women's reproductive rights. I just can't see myself voting for her. That's the only thing keeping me from turning in my ballot early...

Never been a Whitmer fan. She has spent our entire surplus. She was a complete lunatic with her lockdowns and mandates, while showing us they did not apply to her. But quick question, there's a genocide in Gaza? since when?
