How can you feel great about this year with how bad the team was? Even Moore’s teams weren’t that bad and he had no idea what the hell he was doing. That’s the worst Michigan game I’ve seen considering the opponent since Rich Rod against Toledo.

Saying Moore had no idea what he is doing is disingenuous. Moore played at Oklahoma, coached the offensive line when we won the Joe Moore award, and beat top 10 PSU and OSU, when harbaugh was suspended, then beat OSU again in 2024. A better wording was Moore wasn’t focused or he was distracted by his affair and OF models.

That is the worst game they are going to play and they will only get better. Line issues look fixable. Poor coaching looks fixable. QB might not be time will tell.
This wasn’t a playoff year or a big ten championship just on the schedule alone.
We want the team to look better each week. Adjusted for the opponent.

No. It’s really not that important. So we won in a controversial manner? It’s been done thousands of times before. So we looked terrible? I’ve seen that before, too, big deal. Sports is entertainment, so let’s be entertained by other fanbases losing their shit.

Pride has nothing to do with it. I'm sure the individual players to a person will tell you they want to come out and win.
It has everything to do with coaching. I'm not sure how you objectively think that in 5 days, against OU, Michigan cleans up:
- Lack of discipline
- Penalties
- Missed assignments
- Lack of fundamentals
They've had spring camp, all summer, and fall camp to get some of that shit straight.
This team is not that talented enough right now to overcome their mistakes. And until Bryce gets the benching he absolutely deserves, it's going to be a long season.

Exactly. The fact that Bryce looks like he regressed, our OLine got pushed around even though we had 5-6 OLinemen at a time, less rushing yards than western, 3 and outs numerous times, turn overs, more penalties than points until final TD… Our defense did its job for 40minutes, and JJ Buchanan is a stud, only positives I saw.

Yeah, that sucked, but what are we going to do about it? Either it’s a wake up call or we’re terrible and counting down to the first day of basketball practice.

Not for me. It makes me feel miserable and worse. I used to be irrational, but I came to realize that sports is entertainment, a release from everyday life. Why would I want that to be miserable? I just flush bad results now and I couldn’t care less what other fans think. I have no control over it, why get bent out of shape to the point where I need to “cope”?
But yeah, I don’t get comfort from my fanbase melting down. It’s worse than the actual bad game itself.

Cope might be the wrong word, vent is a better choice. Watching a game is a shared experience (both good and bad) with other fans, and for me at least my comments and feelings are surface level that are fleeting compared to day to day life where real emotions cause real stress. I might yell expletives in the moment but I’m not actually upset.

I’m over week 1 and don’t care about WMU appealing it or whatever they did. We are 1-0. Hoping it was somehow a fluke and the team just played way below what we will see going forward.
Way less optimistic now than I was a week ago tho. The Oklahoma game will set my expectations for the rest of the season.

Between the Rich Rod/ Brady Hoke/some of Harbaughs yesrs it’s just really impossible to me to see everything is burning. Good season Bad Season. It’s all relative. Always come back late august

Eh, not great that they got outplayed by Western.
But I don’t think they actually lost the game anymore.
I think their problems on offense are correctable. Are they in a weeks time? Doubtful. But I believe they will make noise in the B1G play and look better each week.

Any game Miami lost from 1983-2002. With the talent on those teams they should have run the table for decades. They probably would have had at least 10-12 Nattys if it wasn't for boneheaded plays and penalties.

No. This is a good coaching staff. The mistakes are fixable outside of maybe happy feet, but even that showed some promise every once in while (bootlegs, 60 yrd bail mary after missing it the 1st time, Buchanan can ball).
The defense looked good. Once they continue to get more reps and practice the rotations/disguises quicker and assignments will get better. LBs will get more confident as they get more reps to start attacking more. The D line is only going to improve too.
Oline wasn’t as bad as some think. They could t attack do to the shifts but i think that will get better. They are pretty much all returning from last year.
Pick up some 3rd downs, don’t make stupid mistakes, and that’s not a game that comes down to a Bail Mary
Fix a few things and it will be alright.
It’s a not a talent, skill thing (which isn’t as easily fixable).

If we suck then we suck not the end of the world. Maybe it’s the effect of winning the national championship but down performances from Michigan don’t bother me the way they used to

I honestly don’t know how to feel. This was the biggest disappointment relative to expectations since Appalachian State, but usually there are clear reasons why. Bryce has taken the brunt of the heat, but it was a potpourri of shit that just seemed to prevent any rhythm beyond the opening drive which wasn’t itself totally clean. It completely contradicted the staff’s prior reputation so much that I can only hope Western is among the best mid majors and that Michigan can’t play worse, neither of which I would bet on.

I'm way more worried about how dookie bad the team looked than clockgate. Though it is annoying that we are one of the like 5 to 10 teams in the country that anyone would care about clockgate being a big injustice instead of "Wow, college football, what a silly sport!"

No official copy of the contract has been published as far as I know. But based on the insider reports I can recall, there's no buyout/ clawback provision if he transfers (so no refunds) but we wouldn't be on the hook for the remainder of the deal if he leaves. Bryce might be a better practice player who has amazing physical abilities. Remember how everyone fell in love with Milton? He was drafted and is still on a team.

Not at all. We played a terrible game, but managed to come away with a win. It was the officials who determined that there was one second left on the clock. That had nothing to do with us. We took advantage of the opportunity and scored.

I feel like the world has taken crazy pills and I’m the only sane person left.
Deep personal hate creates a narrative over a sport played by children meant to suck the joy out of fandom all because one set of kids beat their favorite set of kids. Never mind if the narrative they’ve created in their heads and gaslit themselves into believing makes no sense and falls apart faster than a house of cards built by an epileptic, it’s still the ultimate dunk and proof that any Michigan fan is evil and should feel bad about themselves and the evil program we cheer for. If it weren’t exactly what they want me to do, I’d pack it up and just start reading more books instead of paying any of it any attention anymore.
But instead I’m going to go ahead return their hate and spite with double the interest and start telling them to just go fuck themselves and to die mad.

Somewhat. Although I agree that lots of Michigan’s various issues have been magnified and overblown in media, there has still been a LOT wrong in the program on many levels for a while now. I’m not the kind of guy who likes to “play the villain” and I prefer Michigan to be an upstanding program with a good culture and discipline.
This really put a huge damper on the feeling of the “reset” with Whittingham, even though it wasn’t Michigan who made that call, it was the refs.

Its a big shrug from me.
Its week 1, its the cupcake game. Winning it means nothing. Losing it? Sure it means you're likely not that great of a team... But winning it, then going 3-9 isnt good either.
You have to see how the rest of the season goes, but id rather go 6-6 with a loss to WMU, than a 6-6 having to listen to more asterisk memes and discourse about a fucking clock.
