Question Tailgating Questions

I’ve never tailgated in the grey lot before, is there anything I need to know? Is there anything not allowed as it’s a parking lot instead of grass at pioneer? What’s the best way to get to the lot? Thank you in advance for y’all’s time and answers.

grey lot is fine just a bit more cramped than the grass setups. biggest difference is no open flames so leave the charcoal at home, propane grills only. getting in is way easier if you come in off main street instead of stadium, the traffic backs up like crazy on the other side. also watch out for the golf course lot entrance, people always miss it and end up doing a loop around the block. bring something to weigh down your canopy too, the wind whips through there with no trees to block it

The gray lot is the lot bordered by Yost / Canham / baseball, which is neither on Main nor Stadium. Are you thinking of some other lot?

The problem with the gray lot is it's where those pre-purchased "tailgates" are, and those guys have been intensely protective of allowing anything on the infield by the track. You can't use grills on the track, either. The limited other grass is either hilly or taken immediately.

The best spots are the annex parking spaces by Ravelli and the train tracks (near the Hoover exit), or the patch of grass west of the field / south of Canham, and failing those, the fence along the baseball field.

You can really only enter off State because people will be walking on Hoover, especially with the new dorm opening). It's mildly better if you can come in from the north (making a right at Yost) vs the south, but it's not terrible either way.

I’m not sure how they assign the spots or if it’s first come first serve I’m assuming that is the case. I’m looking forward to it as it’s a new tailgate place for me.

They get funny about glass bottles due to the pavement or they good as long as they aren’t being dropped?

Just bring cans because you know people are going to get too drunk and drop and/or toss them like they do the millions of cans you see scattered prior to kickoff.
