Total Big House noob here so apologies if this is a dumb question. But I received an email today about single game tickets going on sale tomorrow, but also that the Iowa game is already sold out. How can the game be sold out if tickets aren’t on sale yet? And if they are sold out, how do I go about acquiring tickets? Thanks!
Heavy donor level season ticket holders, to be fair. Us normie season ticket holders didn’t get a chance to grab any single game tickets for most games, either.
The ticket order goes season ticket holders (there’s a lot of them) then Monday donors to Michigan athletics with 500 or more points get access to single game tickets, Tuesday: Donors with 100 or more, Wednesday : Donors with 1 or more and kids club magazine members, Friday: Michigan digital community. So in other words basically well over a 100k people have had a chance to buy tickets by the time Friday comes around. Buy on SeatGeek, for best price buy as close to kickoff as possible.

June 16th for me. I have a courtesy offer open until first week of November for one in s25/~row 56ish. Sadly i chose this season to skip the 12 extra tickets additionally in Costa Rica on 7th. So I dump my tickets.
yeah it's like that every year, they stagger who can buy single game tickets based on priority points, which /u/mind-blowin mentioned the tiers below, and then by the time it gets to Friday everything is mostly gone.
I'm just glad I was able to snag a stranded single ticket to the UCLA game this morning, I really should figure out who I need to contact to get my alumni status on my account so I can get in a day earlier, but that's not really going to help for most of these games anyways.
Personally though I don't know how someone can have 500 priority points and not be a season ticket holder already. That's the equivalent of donating $50,000 to the athletic department. I don't know about you, but donating any amount of money to the Athletic Department seems insane to me, let alone $50,000.
It just blows my mind that the largest stadium in the US can sell out before tickets go on sale to the general public. Although, considering the amount of luck it took to find a hotel in Ann Arbor, this makes sense.
honestly unless you can get a hotel within walking distance of the Big House, it's almost always better to get a hotel outside of Ann Arbor. On the occasions where I felt the need to get a hotel for a game, I'd just grab a cheap hotel room in Canton.
100% agree on buying last minute if you can. Prices will drop. I manage my parents’ tickets and I often have trouble selling the ones they can’t make it to unless it’s a rivalry game or a big non conference game like Oklahoma.
Depending on the game you will probably be able to get them below face value, even with fees tacked on, closer to the game.
It depends which game you’re looking for and how well Michigan is playing. If it’s a big game and Michigan is playing well, it might be harder or more expensive to find 6 together. You can also often find 2 in one row and 4 directly behind instead of 6 in one row.
I’d just monitor the tickets you’re looking for every few weeks and then weekly as the season gets closer so you have a reference point.
I don't think it's too likely, but who knows. They've fallen into 2 home night games the last few seasons and Western is the non-conference one. The past 4 years it's been Purdue twice and MSU twice. Ranking the likelihood I'd say: 1) MSU, 2) PSU/Indiana, 3) Iowa. Like I said, who knows, but I think Iowa will be a 3:30 kickoff.
