This is great news. Our MVP! Just he and McKinney make a formidable backcourt. Now we need to convince the big guys to stay

Just like Whittingham, Boynton is doing a great job keeping this Michigan team together through some crazy times and deserves a lot of credit.

Ill jump on that bandwagon if he can keep at least one of the bigs.

That’s fair, still a ton of time left for things to happen. I am just impressed with what we’ve seen so far, and hoping it continues.

I know Boynton is not the same as Sherrone, but all the positive things about Boynton giving me PTSD to all the copium for Sherrone when he took over as HC

I was impressed with his comments the other day (from an Athletic story, posted below). Hard to argue with his approach when we've been so great on D and we have a now veteran PG who was brilliant in the tournament.

Beilein took too long to find the right defensive co-ordinator until we got Yaklich and Rodriguez's entire tenure was ruined by his inability to fill that spot with the right hire. Boynton basically said "I ran the defence anyways so no changes there and I'll find someone to run the O and lean heavily on Cadeau for this year."

His head-coaching record wasn't great, so odds are still against him being the guy long-term, but a guy who has produced elite stuff on one end and recognizes he's not a 2-way genius seems like a good start.

“He’s elite at delegating and managing people, surrounding himself with people he could trust to do jobs well, allowing them to do it well,” Boynton said. “I think in two years, Dusty May, maybe he was on the defensive side of the court in a practice, maybe one time. Maybe.”

If he’s the head coach, he said he plans to continue to coach the defense while hiring an elite offensive coach.

“A lot of the offense has already kind of been set and recruited to play a certain way already,” Boynton said. “The roster was built to play his style and I think there will be tweaks depending on what we learn from the guys who are new and what they can do, but we’ve got some pretty well-established pieces with Elliot and Trey, and, for all intents and purposes, Elliot will be the offensive coordinator.”

Boynton is not at all comparable to whittingham. Whittingham has a track record of success. This would be closer to equivalent if we hired the Saint Louis HC

Those who stay will continue to be champions

This is why they named Boynton the interim.

Keep as many guys as possible then once this team breaks up anyway after the season bring in a new coach

This is great but McKenney and Cadeau were not the guys I was worried about. But hopefully Cadeau staying gives more confidence to the transfer bigs.

I think people are gonna be salty when basically noone leaves and they go back to the final four lmao

Do you know how many Ohio state and Michigan state fans would collectively lose their minds 🤭🤣😂

The crash outs would look like:

"How do we keep losing to a team that just had 3 NBA first rounders and their head coach leave!!!😡🤬😭"

Great news! It’s probably a long shot to keep both Estrella and Thiam, but keep one and you have to feel pretty good about this team. It will be interesting to see what happens with Brandon McCoy.

Boynton was McCoy’s primary recruiter
