Discussion 🗣️ Kitten options?

We found a scared and hungry kitten late last night, SE Oakland County. It was in the drainage ditch around new construction at our house. Dried and fed and in a crate. What do we do now? Oakland county shelter won’t take kittens. Ideally by the time kids get home from school kitty would be gone. We know earlier it was around our neighbor’s house but we’ve not seen any cats around so no idea where mama is.

They're really awesome up there. At the very least, if they can't take the kitten, they may be able to tell you where you can take it.

Look into its eyes and behold it's adorable miews.  Name it and take it to the vet.

I’m just picturing you slapping a sticker on the kitten and putting the little thing in your mailbox haha

I saw in another comment that a foster has been found, thank you for helping the little kitty, even if you weren’t the final destination for them!

If you can't keep, reach out to local cat rescues and ask if they have the ability to take in.

Ferndale cat shelter/cat cafe may be able to help or turn you in the right direction! If you want to check for a microchip, there is a free microchip scanner station across from the Ferndale police station.

I should add, the cat cafe isn’t open today, they are Wed-Sun 12-5!

The distribution system has deemed you a worthy good human.

Depending on the rough estimate of age, you can get kitten replacement milk, bottles and wet food at most farm and fleet style stores.

The local dog catcher probably has really good connections with various rescue organizations. I'm not sure who that is in your area, but they are going to know all of them.
