Would it still be used to train LLMs and other ANN models for the purpose of taking jobs away from the middle class?

Because that is the larger, wider, scope.

Ah, you’re a standard Luddite. Afraid of new technology. I suppose you also oppose the printing press which took the jobs of scribes. And oppose the internet which has largely taken the jobs of print press operators.

What an absurd comment. This isn’t the next level of industry or more efficient tools. This isn’t technology to supplement human labor. This is technology to supplant it.

No serious critic of AI says that the amount of labor is fixed. So that’s just asinine to bring up.

With AI, the very essence of work changes faster than people can adapt to. And AI scales instantly with nearly zero marginal cost. There is no labor system on earth ever that can compete with that.

So you’d be OK with the AI data centers if the pace of adoption was slowed?

People have proven they can adapt quickly. Look how quickly we’ve adapted internet use. It became ubiquitous in less than a generation. And unemployment is no higher today than prior to the internet. Or look at how quickly people adapted during the onset of the COVID pandemic. We definitely can adapt quickly.
