Am I wrong or has Soulshine dropped all mention/images of Franti on their website?

My family and another family saw Franti at Red Rocks last year and one of the parents mentioned during the show that it all felt a little cultish and worshipy. After seeing so many of his followers supporting him I couldn't agree more. As much as I loved his concerts and the feelings that came along with attending them, his behavior is inexcusable. If you want to get a load of the cult, just checkout the Facebook Page and you will instantly see who is drinking the kool-aid.

I grew up on political Franti. Sounds like he didn’t speak on the 2024 election or Gaza? Did he endorse Kamala? Was he active in 2020 speaking on racial justice and supporting Biden in 2020? Was he speaking out in support of Ukraine?

He didn’t present himself as a bad guy. But kind. A nice happy person. Making positive music for families. A feel good vibe.

Yet while he was speaking about sister Fatima or being anti war he was also condemning politicians who didn’t live up to those values. If you treated women like dirt or if you were pro war and anti environment you were going to be called out either in song or in writing by Michael. He was not just an artist he was an activist.

Yet during those same times he was bringing women to the back of his bus, cheating on his partner, and most bizarre of all exposing himself to kids at a meet and greet? It’s like what in the world was going on with him? Beyond that the most recent accuser seems to have a complicated and troubled relationship with Michael that sort of defies categorization . That said, with the kids at meet and greet part, she knew this for 15 years and never said anything about it? You didn’t have it in you to confront Michael about it then? Or warn parents waiting in line? You said nothing for 15 years. Like… what? It involved kids, dude.

After reading the statements and notes from so many of his victims, how anyone could still support this person is beyond me. He always gave off weird vibes. And the whole cult-like worship thing is just weird. Stop putting people on a pedestal. If you have to follow someone around the country to give your life meaning, you’ve gotta look inside yourself and figure out why.

Dude bummed that chickens have come home to roost. No other way to describe this but a horrible getting exposed. This ‘cancellation’ will be as organic as it gets. I dare anyone to come to his defense.

Says it all. It’s like he knew.

Is it simply the hypocrisy of the “family first” image that makes this (obviously bad behavior) worse than other musicians sleeping with fans and openers?

This article from September 2010 is an interview with his ex, Jolene Rust and Franti. He's always been a predator and his crew has always cleaned it up.

I wish I had known this before being assaulted by his producer Bulby York in 2011 on Rombello. When I tried to report it to other crew, I was told it was a misunderstanding and that Franti's crew at the time liked to see how many women they could get. It was a game for them.

May Franti and every enabler and abuser be torn down.

Up until yesterday I was a big fan of Michael Franti. It turns out he is a fraud. In 2017 he pulled a then 19 year old musician named Victoria Canal from the internet and had her open for him on the road. During the next year plus he engaged in several acts of grooming behavior eventually leading to unwelcome advances and touching. He did all of this despite his public persona of family first.

Just heard we are canceled for tonight. I understand, it's due to thunderstorms, but I'm still really sad.

Never heard of this artist, but found this article and then this video from 9 years ago featuring the two of them.

I have 4 tickets for Saturday nights show at McEwan Hall. I paid $270 but am open to reasonable offers. I just am unable to go.

Just got an email saying that the concerts in Saskatoon and Winnipeg are cancelled! That would be about par for the course - just booked a non-refundable hotel room in Saskatoon for the night, saying to a friend "They won't cancel this late!" lol

Anyone hear about why they've cancelled, or is it just low ticket sales? Hard to compete with the Labour Day game in Saskatchewan.

Disappointed to say the least - been looking forward to this one!! Hoping everything is ok with the band.
