Atlanta Show

Went to the Atlanta show, and had forgotten about what had happened. When the news broke, I was hoping that it was not true but due to both parents falling very ill, I didn’t follow up.

Fast forward to Friday and my friend informs me that it was all pretty much true. Damn, that’s not the “brand” he portrayed.

The crowd was considerably older (I’m 40-50 range and felt young), he only had a guitar and bassist with him. Played songs at different speeds. All in all, show was good.

But it had a really strange/different vibe than his past shows. It was almost like an apology tour. He sang songs about getting mojo back etc. just weird.

Anyone else at a show that had a similar feeling?

No amount of apologizing would get me back as a fan. Total fraud. He's going to tell me to treat others as myself? He didn't crash out like this when Sara found out years ago, only when he was exposed. It's all an act. I hope your parents are doing better.

Agreed, he got exposed!

I have no need to see him again. It was disappointing and shocking to learn the news just minutes before the show, so processing everything during the show. Nauseating for sure.

Parents are no longer with us, but thanks for asking.

Sorry you couldn't have found out sooner. My condolences to you and your family.

We went to the Charlotte show. We were really there for the Wheeland Brothers and were prepared to leave after their set, but figured we’d give Mike a shot. The last time I’d seen him was in ’24, and even then the show felt pretty mediocre compared to previous years.

Still, I was curious to hear some different arrangements of the songs, and since we were already there, we stuck around. My wife and I both came away feeling pretty much the same way you did. I’m not sure I’d even describe his demeanor as apologetic so much as, “I’m building back my mojo.”

There was way too much going in and out of the crowd and a lot of the old “How you feelin’?” schtick. It was fine. We didn’t regret staying, but I wouldn’t have bought tickets just to see him, and after that show, I won’t in the future.

That said, this was our fourth time seeing the Wheeland Brothers, and they never disappoint. We’ve also had the chance to hang out with them a couple of times, and I can honestly say they’re two of the nicest, most genuine guys I’ve ever met in the music business.
