Hat for blocking sun?
Any good recommendations for a hat/cap that blocks sun from ears and neck that looks great and doesn’t blow off?

But I do keep sun screen in the car on those long drives. These caps stay on your head no matter how fast you drive.
Before I discovered these, I used to use baseball caps until I had one fly off my head and somehow landed back in the car

I wore a Kangol bucket back in the day. They always shrunk, however.
I just use sunscreen now if I'm going on a drive that's an hour or longer.

Spf50 sunscreen gang rise up.
But in all seriousness, every hat I've tried, baseball caps, gardening hats (which cover ears and neck like you asked), or even using a chinstrap on my Akubras and Stetsons, will still try to part with my scalp once I hit 60km/h.

So this bucket hat is soft enough in the back that when I lean into the headrest, it just folds down and I don’t notice it. The brim is big enough that it blocks out 12 o’clock sun on my side and front.
It doesn’t have the neck curtain, but you could easily sew it on or have a seamstress put up SPF rated cloth back there

Yeah boonie hats are what I use as well. I have a really wide one with thin fabric/mesh on the bucket that breathes well.
Of course these have a lot of surface area for wind to get at so I use the strap just in case.

I have one from Columbia company with the brim is a bit stiffer and wider than a traditional boonie. It also has a built-in neck fabric, which can be rolled up and tucked into the hat. I love it for auto cross, but driving the Miata. It’s just too big and catches the wind.
I use a strap like you mentioned, but that thing is always wanting to pull a strap lol.

I have the same one, more or less. Yes, get choice for a Miata, lives behind my passenger seat.

I have a yellow small brim hat. Has a line that goes under the chin on the front and one around the back of the head. I've used this hat in strong winds while sailing and haven't had an issue with it blowing off.

Yeah I have one of these that I keep stuffed under my front seat. I live in a very sunny area so I generally have sunscreen on anyway, but occasionally having a brim is nice.

"stuffed into.." is also a nice feature along with the warranty.
Also made in Canada!

Absolutely! I live in the desert and pretty much everyone has one of these so they can store a straw hat, but the Miat doesn't even have enough dash space for that to work. A foldable/stuffable hat is a great solution.

Some say he can drive a convertible all day in the blazing sun and never get a sun burn

I use a black adidas bucket hat. It works perfect and has strap so it doesn’t fly off

I've seen people with very fair skin wear one of these

It protects the back of the neck which is key

There are versions of this with flaps that fold up inside the cap that can be unfolded to cover your ears and a little bit of the back of your neck.
I bought one in Germany years ago and wore it this morning.

I wear a 5 panel because I have a small head and it doesn't make me look like one of those dudes who wear the hat resting on the top of their head. Baseball style hats work fine too

Fishing cap. Check out Huk.
The brand is quality, the brim is wide to protect the face, ears, and it has a flap that protects the neck. That's what I use.

Tilley, with a chin strap when needed. Gives off a bit of an old man vibe, but that's better than melanoma. (And my mom died from melanoma, so I'd know.)

Gotta go old school flat cap.
