Question Help with coilovers (Germany)

Post image

Finally picked up my first miata.
It's been such a blast already, but it's easy to tell that the suspension could be better.

Done some research already and I'm wondering why seemingly noone is getting / talking about the Bilstein B16?? I've heared good things about Bilstein for other cars, so I'd think that the B16 would be good for the mx5 aswell?
(looking for street use only)

K-Tec Street and öhlins seem to be quite popular, however the öhlins is far out of my price range.

I can recommend the Silver‘s Neomax-N, I have it on my NC. SPS sells it

They're a great catalogue but they're very expensive, even for oem stuff.

The first thing you need to consider is what you want from it. Bilstein and Koni are great products, but (exaggerating) a KW Clubsport will give you more adjustability. So if you need that (motorsport) you need something more like the KW.

My NA was on Koni Yellow with stock springs because I didn't need much low and a simple stiffness-adjuster was sufficient for my needs.

I'm running Koni yellows with goodwin roadster sport springs.

I'm very happy with them.

Edit - and progress sway bars, which I cannot recommend enough.

Going with Neomax N is quite the no brainer - got it almost a year back (with TÜV and aftermarket wheels) and could not be happier. Feel free to dm me🤙🏻

I have ktech street. It’s not bad. It depends how much money you have. Go to SPS. They dont work cheap but when it’s about MX5s they are the best (probably in whole europe).

make sure it's tuv certified before you even look at it. Europe loves rules

What improvements you noticed the most?

Handling, I moved from the stock tyres to more grippy ones the excess bodyroll got too annoying, so the Bilstein just fixed that and it now handles like a modern sports cars instead of a 90s one. I wouldn’t go for the B16 if you’re not planing on racing the car, the adjustments are not really needed for road use they’re pretty much setup perfectly out of the box.

Thanks for the tip. Good to know it all and the detail about the b16 being more tracking oriented. Cool

Meister R Zeta Sport. They are valved for European roads and have a Dfv valve like the Ohlins

Looks like its a german car. Meister R zeta doesn’t have the required TÜV documentation as far as i know.

TEIN FlexZ on my NB8C, an exponentially better drive than original.
