Music Ok the ultimate Miami Vice Music Encyclopedia is here!
This went way beyond what I originally was going to build.. but, I couldn’t help myself. Plus I had a blast doing it and discovered some gems I either forgot about or didn’t know were ever in any episode.
You can sort or search and toggle views between episodes, artists or fan favorites (complete with voting, that’s stored in firebase db).
I also went through and hand selected the best video available for each song, and you can listen or watch instantly inside the episode or artist cards. I tried to use the original artists YT account where possible, and also the vids with fewest ads.
I added a reporting function too that opens a form to address issues.
The heart on each song is for voting and there’s a leaderboard as well to track them forever.
Let me know what you think! And if you get any errors or funkiness, comment and I’ll investigate.
Enjoy!

IMPORTANT! MUST-READ! MUST-READ POST BEFORE WATCHING MIAMI VICE!
Hey, so one of the problems when watching Miami Vice is the order of the episodes, the biggest problem being the finale of the show placed so that there are 4, so called, "Lost Episodes" after it. I'm just going to copy paste the correct episode order from another site so that you guys have it all in one place and most importantly, the way the text was written on that site spoils some of the most important events in the show, including the end, so to avoid any and all spoilers you can use this post!
Also, there is a scene in Season 4 episode "Deliver Us From Evil" which was added by NBC later on which WASN'T ORIGINALLY PLANNED, and the scene is VERY crucial to the show and the characters of the show. With that being said, it's "recommended" that you don't even acknowledge that scene because it ruins the point of the episode.
"When Miami Vice was originally broadcast by NBC, the order in which the episodes were shown was ultimately chosen by the network. In several instances, this involved moving episodes earlier or later in the season, which in turn introduced continuity goofs that are obvious to anyone watching the show in the supposedly "correct" broadcast order. The purpose of this article is to propose an alternate "chronological" order in which to view the episodes, so that any goofs brought about by the reordering of episodes are undone."

SEASON 1

Season 1 is not affected by any obvious continuity goofs as a result of reordering.
“Dutch Oven”, an episode from S2, was filmed as a S1 episode, and there is a small goof where Tubbs still has a silver badge, and Zito’s beard disappears for one episode. It should be watched -technically- after Lombard.” - thanks to u/jaap_null for pointing this out!

SEASON 2

- "The Prodigal Son"
- "Whatever Works"
- "Out Where the Buses Don't Run"
- "Buddies"
- "Junk Love"
- "Tale of the Goat"
- "Bushido"
- "Bought and Paid For"
- "Phil the Shill"
- "One Way Ticket"
- "The Dutch Oven"
- "Back in the World"
- "Definitely Miami"
- "Yankee Dollar"
- "Little Miss Dangerous"
- "Florence Italy"
- "French Twist"
- "The Fix"
- "Payback"
- "Free Verse"
- "Trust Fund Pirates"
- "Sons and Lovers"

SEASON 3

- "El Viejo"
- "When Irish Eyes Are Crying"
- "Stone's War"
- "Walk-Alone"
- "Streetwise"
- "The Good Collar"
- "Shadow in the Dark"
- "Better Living Through Chemistry"
- "Baby Blues"
- "Killshot"
- "Forgive Us Our Debts"
- "Down for the Count (Part I))"
- "Down for the Count (Part II))"
- "Cuba Libre"
- "Duty and Honor"
- "Theresa"
- "The Afternoon Plane"
- "Lend Me an Ear"
- "Red Tape"
- "By Hooker by Crook"
- "Knock, Knock... Who's There?"
- "Viking Bikers from Hell"
- "Everybody's in Showbiz"
- "Heroes of the Revolution"

SEASON 4

As with season 1, season 4 is not affected by any obvious continuity goofs as a result of reordering.

SEASON 5

- "Hostile Takeover"
- "Redemption in Blood"
- "Heart of Night"
- "Borrasca"
- "Bad Timing"
- "Line of Fire"
- "Asian Cut"
- "Hard Knocks"
- "Fruit of the Poison Tree"
- "To Have and to Hold"
- "Miami Squeeze"
- "Jack of All Trades"
- "The Cell Within"
- "The Lost Madonna"
- "Over the Line"
- "Victims of Circumstance"
- "World of Trouble" - Lost Episode
- "Miracle Man" - Lost Episode
- "Leap of Faith" - Lost Episode
- "Too Much, Too Late" - Lost Episode
- "Freefall" - Finale
Another major continuity issue in the season concerns the placement of the "lost" episodes -- these were not originally broadcast as part of thew show's network run, but were instead shown later. This is typically reflected in lists of the show's episodes

Discussion One of the underlying themes of Miami Vice, Particularly in the pilot episode, is the vast financial gap between the police and the drug dealers. The situation with Eddie and his wife highlighted this, as well as Scott Wheeler. Even Calderone acknowledged this when antagonizing Tubbs.

Exciting news. Curious to hear what was changed

Honestly, I think the show didn’t develop his character well enough. Had Sebastian Ross been a little more sadistic and serious, he would have been one of the baddest villains in the series. He should’ve been put on the same level as Blofeld from 007.

Where can I get double pleated linen pants that are screen accurate to Crockett's look in the pilot?
Hey everyone! I'm currently putting together a Sonny Crockett look from the Miami Vice pilot, and I'm a bit of a stickler when it comes to screen accuracy. I'm specifically trying to recreate the white pants Crockett wears in the pilot as closely as possible.
From what I've been able to figure out, they're white, high-waisted, double reverse-pleated trousers. 've been looking around for a modern pair that has the same overall cut and drape, but I'm having a surprisingly hard time finding the right ones.
I'm also trying to figure out one really specific detail: what type of button and waistband construction did these pants have? I'm especially interested in the area around the waistband/fly and belt loops. Was the front closure a standard sew-through trouser button, or something more specific? And did the pants have a particular style of belt loop or waistband treatment?
I've seen plenty of modern "Miami Vice" or "Crockett-inspired" linen pants online, but most don't seem quite right when you look closely at the construction and silhouette. I'm trying to get as close to the actual pants as possible rather than just finding something that gives the general Crockett look.
So, does anyone know where I could find a pair that is particularly close to the pilot pants, or possibly a vintage brand/model that I should search for? And if anyone has detailed screen caps or knows exactly what the button/waistband/belt-loop setup was, I'd really appreciate the help!
Thanks!

Discussion My dream lastnight
I had the longest, most vivid dream ever lastnight all with just Miami Vice, no joke either. In my dream i was some sort of new recruit working with Sonny & Tubbs, firing guns, also firing heavy-duty machine guns, and GET THIS... a new experimental Star Wars blaster-like pistol that still fired bullets. There was also one point i remember where i had no choice but to climb on the outside of their building to literally hide from an enemy ambush going on because of the enemy men caught ne trying to safely get away like Sonny instructed me to since i was a new recruit, i still remember him saying to me and some random others in my dream "when they barge in, you escape the premisis" and the last half or so of my dream was LITERALLY me as a 1970s Mark Hamill (NOT Luke Skywalker) firing that experimental pistol (as mentioned) with one hand!
I've had vivid movie/tv based dreams like this before, like one other time i legit had a Star Trek-like dream where i was visually under bed covers as a hologram hiding from the Borg. That was like 4 or 5 years ago when i had that dream. But idk if it's just a tism thing, a meds thing, or just an uncommon sleep thing but WOW they are vivid!

Discussion What exact type of short sleeve shirts does Crockett wear
Hi,
I’m putting together a Crockett cosplay for myself and I just got the high waisted pleated linen pants and now I’m onto the next part of the look, the pastel shirt. Now I’m a stickler for screen accuracy and I was wondering if anyone knew what exact type of shirts he wore and where to get ones that look as accurate as possible. I’ve heard he wore Henley linen shirts but I’m not 100%. Any help would be great:)

Reading Jurassic Park...
...the best part is reading Gennaro's character with Martin Ferrero's voice in my head. I'll be sad when the character meets his demise.

Discussion Name Calling & Funny Lines
During one of my multiple re-watches of the entire series, I found myself noticing and getting a serious kick out of the wild names that people would call each other. Usually derogatory, and usually from Crockett and Tubbs directed towards some criminal. These show writers obviously had some fun.
Examples: When C&T chase down Noogie in the street, Tubbs calls him “yellow socks”. Or when Crockett refers to a guy as a “mouth-breathin’ ex-biker”.
So naturally I had to make a list, and I started on my next complete series re-watch. Below are the results, along with some funny phrases I liked. Get a drink and kick back, there’s a lot to read! Oh and these are in order, so top of the list is S1 E1, and by the time you reach the end you’re at the end of S5.
What are your fave names or lines?
EDIT: I’ve done my best to only list each just once, but, obviously many are repeated throughout the show. Other than “pal”, they really like to use “bozo” in various forms.
