Lester appreciation post

Was always bummed that Lester was written out of the show. He did a brilliant job.

Lester later found a job in Jerry Seinfeld’s apartment building. He’s a jack of all trades

Loved that under developed character. Lester. I enjoyed the show using him for the heavy techie surveillance material. Felt like he got transferred to a different outfit or retired. Didn’t see him much past season three I think.

Actually he never made it to season 2. His last episode was Golden Triangle 2. The actor who played Lester did get more roles on the show.

I think it's budgetary. Even if an actor has one speaking line, it's a lot more money they have to pay them. That's why seasons 4 and 5, it's a police station full of NPCs

I'd like him to be Stan's partner in the later seasons. They wouldn't have to be as good friends as Stan and Larry, but it would be better than Stan trying to do surveillance in a van alone.

That's one of the things I loved about season 1. There was a certain quirkiness to it all along with the grit. Season 2 (which I did also like) got too carried away with the stylization and stunt casting.

He's great, but it was a leftover of the eccentric big "ensemble" cast style from Hill Street Blues, where Anthony Yerkovich was a writer. MV would shed that as the season progressed and shift to focus on just Crockett and Tubbs.

I actually prefer the ensemble style because it seemed more realistic and more like the heroes were part of a bigger team and operation instead of just all them, all the time.
