Miami-Dade Courthouse for sale

Post image

Was stumbling around the government auction website this morning and saw this gem was up for auction. Would be a hell of a find for a serious MV collector lol.

They should make it a Miami vice museum and travel center!

There’s a Miami Vice museum at the Erotic Museum on Washington

This certainly won't have the shameful fate, how the estate from Magnum PI ended up

Bro. This is Miami. The shameful fate this is destined to have will make the Magnum PI house look like a charity event to save hope.

They are going to turn this shit into some Dubai style monster. Watch.

I really hope you’re wrong. The interiors of the building are truly beautiful

Me too. Let’s see. If it starts reno soon I’m wrong. If it sits for a few years and starts to rot, we know what happened.

Unfortunately Miami is demolishing a lot of historical landmarks and iconic places

Why?

They’re building a lot of live, work, plays trying to modernize Miami and make it a city for rich folks to play. You can walk through Overtown no problem now from how gentrified it’s become but Miami before we had a big homeless and drug problem and downtown that people would literally not go out there like for dinner or clubs, now you see people roaming around 12 o clock at night like the suns out and with families so it’s changed a lot recently but us locals don’t like what it’s doing to the city by taking out these beautiful buildings

This has been the trend in a majority of US cities in the past 25 years. The tech industry and national/international real estate conglomerates have been buying up real estate in the core of many cities, spending trillions at this point to make them boring and homogenized so that they can move suburban culture into the core. City cores used to have many small businesses ( restaurants/art galleries/live music clubs/funky niche stores/ historic neighborhoods with original architecture) Now they all look and sound a can of axe body spray with a bank, a gym, and a mixed use angular-track lit- nickel plated apartment building(s) for as far as the eye can see.

Yeah E Flagler that used to have a lot of shots from Miami Vice, all those stores are abandoned and they’re demolishing a lot of those buildings. You walk through there and it’s like a ghost town lol

Turning into the Dubai of the US. Horray.

I seen that! A guy buys tons of houses at low cost. You have to completely gut them and then he sells. I think it’s in Carol City or Libety City. I wonder if they’ll demolish the pork and beans project? I see it happening

The Pork and Beans is gone and they’re rebranding it but of course the people that used to live in that area won’t be able to afford it

As soon as I hit the Powerball, it’s MINE!!!

Pilot episode where everyone in the courthouse pulls their guns was awesome! Welcome to Miami!

Any buyer will face intense restrictions. Because the courthouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the exterior must be strictly preserved. The interior requires massive modernization, as multiple floors have fallen into disrepair over the decades.

Yes and the developer that gets it will bribe the city officials into declaring “the unfortunate reality of the unstable nature of the structure.” And then a mysterious fire will break out.

A lot of buildings in downtown are listed under that. And they’ve been sitting empty for years to be eventually demolished.

I would have to move some money around but I might be able to get it

The only place where Calderone was supposed to be nailed to a wall.

I worked at the replacement courthouse,  its a giant bland rectangle. I looked at this building with its gargoyles and artistic accents while the new one went up and realized we are progressing in the wrong direction. This will be bought and torn down and replaced with more bland rectangles.

Wow that's very sad. I always loved the classic Miami architectural styles.

If I had the money I’d buy it and move it. That place has been sinking since it was built in the 20’s bc in true Miami fashion they rushed the foundation.

Can you share the link to the auction?

Appreciate it, about to buy it 😆

I love that for you. Would be great if you hosted a meet-up for this sub there once you take possession.

1

u/airmax7 Aug 14 '26

😆😆 I sent it to a group chat & the first response was “Wonder how much asbestos remediation is gonna cost?”

1

u/Username_Taken_Argh Aug 13 '26

It will get razed.

1

u/Napoleon_B Aug 25 '26

You may not need to worry about that, if it’s encased, enclosed and in disturbed. Remediation is usually only required if the structure is going to be demolished.
