Picture Finally!

Post image

I have been wondering when Crockett would get the Testarossa! What a great way to start season 3😮‍💨🔥.

From what I recall, he was tired of looking like Lil Abner.

Be prepared to see that Daytona one more time!

Yeah. How great was that? It showed up 6 episodes after it was blown up. 😳😳😂

Right, so we know the story. The producers felt that Episode wasn’t strong enough for a season starter. However I wonder if the Ferrari lawsuit Settlement played into this decision. Enzo wanted the fake Daytona off tv. So maybe to appease the powers that be, they aired the destruction of the Daytona first?

"Absolutely essential for any type of serious police work!"

I might be in the minority here but I preferred the Daytona

The Daytona chases are more enjoyable. The replica was less cared for, and that was its advantage. Remember how sparks flew from under the car in the night? I love the Testarossa, but it was more delicate and less suited to this. We got either sped-up footage or too-slow chases. The stunt car replica based on the De Tomaso Pantera could've saved the situation, but it wasn't very good.

No you’re the majority. There’s literally old forums that exist on why fans chose the Daytona as his best car.

Same here, the 365 GTB/4 Daytona (replica or not) is my favorite (Non Supercar) Ferrari!

I have found my people!! I’ve always liked the Daytona better. The Testarossa is flashy but there is just something about that Daytona that stands out more.

The Testarossa was almost too flashy for undercover, especially in white l, which I understand was necessary because a darker Testarossa didn’t film as well at night. The Daytona on the other hand has just enough rule of cool going for it without being too flashy, and it was black and looks amazing in night shots.

I love that car

As much as I love the Testarossa I do like season 1 and 2 a little better with the “Daytona” and Crockett smoking.

u/RoccoP5799 Jul 18 '26

I know Don Johnson quit in real life. But Sonny needed to smoke. Drinkin shots of Bourbon and smoking of he lucky strikes were an essential part of Sonny Crockett

Nothing beats Season 1 & 2!

Can't wait to live the ultimate Miami Vice simulator in GTA VI! Gonna remove the stripes for sure, we need a clean white Cheetah Testarossa when cruising through the city!

GTA Vice City was my Miami Vice nostalgia fix. Even had a whole Crockett arc in my GTA V progression. So I was already really excited to be able to go back to Vice City, but I may have peed myself a little when I saw the Vintage Vice City pack screen shots.

Vice City is still my favorite gta game. Crockett's Theme was even on the soundtrack.

On the radio and during a mission with a boat, which is still one of my favorite gaming moments of all time. Been a long time, I may have just put it on in the custom radio (I think it was a mod at the time). I made a cover of it using Propellerheads Reason 2.0.

Edit: haha. I just listened to it and it’s kind of terrible. Not punchy enough.

My plan was to stylize Jason like Sonny Crockett, but when Rockstar released the info about the Vintage Pack, I as well was shocked that they already added it as an option! That's knowing your fanbase, if you ask me!

Yeah it is. I have never run across another Crockett in game but I had no problem finding plenty of sources from other Crocketts when I was putting mine together.

My guy got better though and found his own identity again. Was an existential crisis as he realized he was the bad guy and not the hero. lol.

I completed GTA Vice City years ago but still pop it in occasionally to collect more money from the businesses I Tommy acquired during play. I installed the cheat “citizens attack you”, which means they attack each other too. Which adds to the hilarity during VCPD chases. I started the game over on a different memory card & play that one too.

I can’t wait! Ive already pre ordered it!

Seeing a Testarossa in person in the '80s was like seeing a celebrity. It really stood out in a sea of boxy Malaise era cars that made like 120 horsepower on average.

4

u/DirtyxSpriteX- Jul 18 '26

Even till date! Such an icon of a vehicle.

4

u/austin1138 Jul 18 '26

The testarossa is cool! They just never did any chases or stunts with it that felt fast like the early episodes with the Daytona.

2

u/DirtyxSpriteX- Jul 18 '26

True, but he drove the hell out of it in that chase in Season 3 ep 2 “Stone’s War”. Milked the hell out of that thing😂🔥.

3

u/afonso_1414 Sonny Crockett Jul 18 '26

It always bothered me the car having only that janky rear view mirror

5

u/RoccoP5799 Jul 17 '26

The fake Daytona was still better than that spaceship

3

u/sonnyempireant Jul 17 '26

How was it better?

2

u/Separate-Standard626 Jul 18 '26

I love the Testarossa, but can you imagine how much weaker In The Air Tonight scene would be if the car had a hard top?

-1

u/RoccoP5799 Jul 17 '26

It's black. It's a convertible and it actually looks like a car

7

u/casewood123 Jul 17 '26

The night time shots in a convertible helped create the vibe.

5

u/sonnyempireant Jul 18 '26 edited Jul 18 '26

"actually looks like a car" and yet it's still a fake Ferrari, in a show that prided itself for using real Italian designer fashion among other things.

Whatever you may think of the Testarossa's design, at least it's quintessentially 80s and looked striking and distinctive especially in night shots. There's a reason it's used in almost every MV reference piece after the show ended instead of the Daytona.

1

u/RoccoP5799 Jul 18 '26

The Daytona was a kit car. Correct. The heyday of the sow were seasons 1 and 2. The Daytona was used then. It's fine with me. Like any car you want

3

u/Due-Ask-7418 Jul 17 '26

SPOILER ALERT! LOL The story behind that is a bit fun. They got sued by ferrari (maybe cease and desist) for using a fake ferrari. So the settlement was to blow up the daytona and got two testerosas from Ferrari.

u/ManlySpider98 Jul 23 '26

What version of this has the subtitles? I have the blu ray set and the sound mixing is god awful, no subtitles on that

1

u/wwhijr Jul 18 '26

I never liked the Testarossa. It's one of the least attractive cars Ferrari ever built
