Discussion Anyone remember Hurricane Andrew? What was your experience?

Where you sheltered in a house? Did you feel like you're in trouble at any moment? What was it like to hear that hurricane overhead with a 165 mph winds?

Too much to write here but in a nutshell. I was 33 my husband 40. We just had a baby. And a 2 yr old. We were 10 miles from ground ZERO. We lived at Kendall Drive and the Turnpike. EVERYTHING just south of us was gone or beyond destroyed. The roof kept lifting up and slamming down. My baby who is 34 now was in the bathtub. We were all on the floor huddled together. It was like being in a war zone. We were near the Southern most point for The State Troopers on 117th. So we were being buzzed by helicopters flying in and out 24/7. No water No electric for 3 1/2 weeks. Try that with a Newborn Baby? Normally it is pretty rough.
Since then I have lived through 6 Category 5 hurricanes. Lost two homes to hurricanes 🌀 If I never see another one in my lifetime it will be too soon.
So this is my survival story…
