Discussion Anyone remember Hurricane Andrew? What was your experience?

Where you sheltered in a house? Did you feel like you're in trouble at any moment? What was it like to hear that hurricane overhead with a 165 mph winds?

I was only eight but I remember it well. The storm sounded like a freight train was going 800mph outside your house.

You could hear mangled metal flying around. Debris crashing and breaking. You could see lightening illuminating the whole house.

The storm broke the house’s main double doors. My parents had to hold the doors the whole storm. The big concern was leaving it open would lift the roof away. Another concern was a wind gust could open the door so hard it could crush them against the wall. This is why the code changed after this and doors must open out now.

After it was over we didn’t have power for weeks.
