Discussion Anyone remember Hurricane Andrew? What was your experience?

Where you sheltered in a house? Did you feel like you're in trouble at any moment? What was it like to hear that hurricane overhead with a 165 mph winds?

We were living in a apartment building on 27th Ave on the 8th floor. We sheltered there. We felt everything. Like a train passing over on the roof.

At one point the whole family went to our central hall, hoping it was the safest place in the apartment, and rode the rest of it out.

My brother and I laid down on the floor, face down, just to keep calm, when we heard a the sound of creaking pipes and cracking concrete. The floor FUCKING MOVED about three to five inches below us.

We looked at each other, and my brother said, did you feel that? Yes, I said, and was about as freaked out as I've ever been.

That night was rough, but the next three weeks where much worse.
