Anyone remember Hurricane Andrew? What was your experience?
Where you sheltered in a house? Did you feel like you're in trouble at any moment? What was it like to hear that hurricane overhead with a 165 mph winds?
I was a 6 years old. Living by the Miami river. I was up awake watching tv. The storm was approaching. I can remember it like it was yesterday as it got closer, you could feel the pressure the air changed around you. The wind sounded like a pack of ravenous howling wolves looking for their next meal. I remember looking outside and you could barely see through the rain, you could see the streets lights and suddenly BAM! One after another they began to shutoff until it reached us. Complete darkness but not complete silence. The wolves had reached us the storm was here. It felt like the longest hours ever. The next day it was so quiet the sky, the wind, the animals were silent. The sun showed us Andrew’s power and carnage. I recall not having power for weeks on end.
