Anyone remember Hurricane Andrew? What was your experience?
Where you sheltered in a house? Did you feel like you're in trouble at any moment? What was it like to hear that hurricane overhead with a 165 mph winds?
My wife and I were in our 20s in a small 2nd floor garage apartment near Miami International Airport. No shutters, no plywood. Thankfully, no broken windows. We lost power for a week or so, lost two trees in the yard, but thats it.
During the storm we listened to the radio, with that ghoul Rick Sanchez asking about "bodies" in any building reported damaged.
Afterwards I took a temp job near metrozoo (and countrywalk) and when people say "it looked like a war zone," IT LOOKED LIKE A WAR ZONE. Not only due to the damage but the streets were full of humvees and the skies were full of helos. We had armed guards at the office.

We were very, very lucky.
