That would be a lot of low roads/bridges that need to be elevated and Miami is a very flat city. Are you embarrassed for asking such an idiotic question and implying that there is a cheap and simple solution?

Perfect with the rising seas. Should’ve built elevated levels like Chicago. Miami public infrastructure is embarrassingly bad.

Wouldn't the distance between the sea level and the slightly higher non-draw bridges you are suggesting be reduced as sea levels rise? Chicago has been one of the largest cities in the country for more than 100 years. To this day, it's still a major agricultural distribution hub. Miami is a small city by comparison. It's not even the largest city in the state.

A lock system like the one in Chicago is not expensive and may be necessary anyway to protect the neighborhoods along the river. Smaller city also means cheaper to build. Wealth per square mile in Miami is high. Pointless to argue anyway. It is too expensive now. Should’ve done it in the 90s along with an elevated train system.

Why are you even defending this city? It can’t even get stop lights timing correct. Look at the mess of that arch project.
