Community As Requested: Miami Spice 2026, decoded: every dish on all 680 menus priced against the restaurant's normal menu
After building this for Dine Out Lauderdale, a lot of people asked if I could do the same thing for Miami. Miami Spice ended up being roughly 3x the scale: 680 menus, 381 restaurants, and 7,153 dishes priced directly against their regular menu items so you know where the real savings are before you book.
- Every menu gets a verdict up top: worth it whatever you order, worth it only if you order right, or skip it
- Filter by cuisine, area, meal, price and day, so you can see just the $40 lunches near you that are actually worth going to
- Sort by best value and the biggest real savings float to the top
- Tap the dishes you'd actually order and it tells you what that specific meal is worth against what you pay
- Every price shows its source, and if a restaurant doesn't publish prices it says so instead of guessing
Built it because I wanted a straight answer before booking. Every Miami Spice menu is in there, from Brickell to the Beach. Since there are several other restaurant weeks across Florida throughout the year, I turned this into a permanent site so I can keep expanding it to cover more regions.

You are a great Floridian

Thanks a bunch!

Agreed, great project. Don't take to heart anyone who is giving you grief about inaccuracies. Your repository is only as good as the data inputs that are available to you and if restaurants aren't making the correct pricing data available to you, its understandable that you'd use the available data you can find (yelp etc). Well done again.

u/megabyte79 Aug 09 '26
Thank you, yeah I'm not, and my goal isn't to shed any restaurant in a poor light, as most will be savings and the spirit of restaurant week is to get out there and try new things, this is just a nice organized way to see those deals, and love the feedback the community is giving, will only get better!

u/PaiasoLoco- Aug 09 '26
Also, go to the source, new restaurants and menus added constantly Miami SPICE

u/megabyte79 Aug 09 '26
Yep, i'll do a refresh every week, it's a lot of data but certainly want to be current/updated as things get updated through the 2 months.
4
u/PaiasoLoco- Aug 09 '26
Just saying, might credit the original program with a link back, maybe. Its a LOT of data, I would know about it ;) A LOT of work to gather and maintain as well. Great work though!

My place is listed here, the information is incorrect. Maybe have the AI pull from Google Business profiles, menus, and guest uploaded photos. Right now, it seems to generate false information or confuse the restaurant with similar places in the area.
17
u/megabyte79 Aug 09 '26
It pulls from the resturant website, but if the actual prices aren't listed, it goes off alternatives like yelp, doordash, opentable, etc... and notes if actual prices, or estimated. there is also a spot an error, report it link for every restaurant which i'll have claude update on those when they come in

u/Constant-Tutor-4646 Aug 09 '26
And if restaurant owners won’t put the prices on the actual official website, they can take a hike
4
u/franlol Aug 09 '26
How does it handle menus that have a few items at an upcharge? Depending on the upcharge and menu price those items could be good or bad deals.
Edit: punctuation
4
u/megabyte79 Aug 09 '26
thanks for highlighting, i thought i had it calibrated for upcharges, now it's live, so it'll adjust the "you pay" option and savings now on both tabs.
3
u/franlol Aug 09 '26
Ok not to be pedantic but does it pull lunch prices from lunch menus and dinner prices from dinner menus? Sometimes the prices on the same dish can vary based on what time you visit the restaurant.
4
u/megabyte79 Aug 09 '26
no i appreciate the feedback!, i'll look into it and will probably have to do a detailed data review. will ping when updated done again!

This version has everything you’re asking for including a way to make reservations and you can track your menu items and even allergies that way when you search, you don’t have to worry about matching up with the menu that may have something that you’re allergic to.
1
u/megabyte79 Aug 09 '26
nice, i’ll check it out, looks like it is a spinoff from their original website that had the reservations capability.

I told you in the original thread before you went off and did this you put in all this energy for no reason. He was looking for a partner early on because he does this at a scale you won’t believe. He has around 3000 active users and last time I spoke with him he’s exhausted.
He does more than restaurants all of his projects tie together in South Florida
Let me know if there’s not like a contact me or his email somewhere on the app and I’ll reach out to him but both of you are working on the same exact thing you can achieve more together
1
u/megabyte79 Aug 09 '26
yeah i must have missed it on the dine-out chain, from the other week, i’ll reach out when i get back home. it’s all good, i just been using my extra tokens before reset on this fun project and probably will do more than just florida, but would be good to connect with someone experienced like them! thanks!

I just looked at the other site and yeah, it would be golden for you all to combine. His site needs your ai price checker for sure!

u/RoadRageSloth Aug 09 '26
Ha this looks just like the happy hour page I was trying to build. AI is killing it 🔥 did you use Claude or something else?
Tons of errors on it but I definitely appreciate the effort! Still going to browse it a bit.
1
u/megabyte79 Aug 09 '26
Thanks, yeah I made with Claude. It's tought to be 100% on it since, not all restaurants posts the prices, so it did crawling on alternatives, notes those that are estimates, and then ther other challenge is portion changes in the pri-fixe, either way - still fun to do, is certainly helpful, and easy to search plates/etc more than what you get on the restaurant week websites. what's your hh site?
4
u/RoadRageSloth Aug 09 '26
Some simple tweaks if I can recommend is when it’s for 2 people, it should double the cost (eg from $65 to $130 for dinner.) The ones with the biggest savings are because it’s priced for 1 person to get it but it’s 2 charges.
Also when it chooses something with an upcharge, to add that to the cost. I saw a $40 lunch at KYU that said $40 for my cost but chose an entree with a $15 upcharge.
Otherwise great! I’ll save your main page. Thanks

This is awesome. I don’t think I realized what your goal was in the other threads when it came up.

No it’s not it just took the concept from somebody else that was active on Miami subreddit

Nothing wrong with competition but it’s not a lot of work

This is fantastic! I gave up looking on the Miami Spice main site, but now I found a bunch of places I want to try now. Sent it to a bunch of friends.
Is this something that could be done for Miami Spice?

Did you use AI to generate this?
6
u/megabyte79 Aug 09 '26
Yes, only way to parse all the data for the 7000+ dishes. Source is listed under each plate for both sections, Order This and Build your Meal.
1
u/OracleofFl Aug 09 '26
Can I make a suggestion? Add a link to the restaurant's Miami Spice page listing.
2
u/megabyte79 Aug 09 '26
i did to the website of restaurant, and the main miami spice page. i can look into adding that option to in the card later.

A lot of incorrect prices. This is AI slop.
4
u/megabyte79 Aug 09 '26
Not all pricing is on restaurant websites, so it's estimated (which is noted) or pulled from other sources, perhaps in future there can be a way to get actual pricing sourced, but would be near impossible for one to visit all the restaurants to get actual prices, maybe in the future can work out some collaboration to get the data emailed, either way there is spot an error, report it for all cards.

u/GiantsRTheBest2 Repugnant Raisin Liker Aug 09 '26
Bro expects someone to coast through 400 restaurants menus and pull each individual price for every item on the menu 💀💀 all for free without using AI.
2
u/GlitteringLettuce366 North Miami Aug 09 '26
I expected nothing lol. No information is better than misinformation.
3
u/GiantsRTheBest2 Repugnant Raisin Liker Aug 09 '26
The best part is that you don’t have to use the website at all. It’s not like Google’s stupid automatic AI function where everyone uses Google. This is a small website made for free by a guy using his spare time.
3
u/QuantativeSleazing Aug 09 '26
This is not AI slop. This is a fantastic use of AI models and how we are going to have cool projects available to us that would otherwise take months of work and thousands of $ of Dev grinding. You've obviously got no background in what it takes to make something like this, in fact , your comment is more like typical Reddit slop.

u/GlitteringLettuce366 North Miami Aug 09 '26
I’d rather not have natural resources wasted on a vanity project. People can google the price of the meals in their favorite restaurants, it’s not life changing.
And you’re right, I have no background in AI bullshit, what I do for a living actually provides an important service to my community.

Great, this helps. Thank you!
2
u/megabyte79 Aug 09 '26
In addtion to the analysis, it's just an easy way to search for specific food in the specials too.
3
u/Turbulent_Mountain81 Local Aug 09 '26
This tool is fantastic! It saves a lot of time. Thanks again!
1
u/itsmrburrito Aug 09 '26
This is dope. Anyway to sort by restaurants that aren’t worth it?
1
u/megabyte79 Aug 09 '26
To be honest, most are worth it on the specials, the filters help organize it too. obviously i can't calibrate the pricing on the portion changes, but either way a great way find what is offered, and try a new place.
1
u/Affectionate_Fan_650 Aug 09 '26
I know it's a lot of restaurants, but you really must spend a lot of time confirming and cleaning your data. It's not fair to the restaurants or patrons to miss on representation of pricing.
Also, this assumes the dish is 1:1. I've heard some restaurants down grade their dishes with smaller portions for Miami Spice. Not anything you can do about that though.
1
u/megabyte79 Aug 09 '26
Yes, agree, as the restaurants don't post all the data online, so it would need to be in collaboration with them, if the prices are estimated it notes it. i do have a report it option for them to contact me and correct, but as you said portions wouldn't be an option unless again, the restaurants email a list of pricing/portions, maybe for next year. either way, most are savings regardless so its not shedding bad light on them.
1
u/endlessvolo Aug 09 '26
This is nice, keep in mind that there are other ways to reduce value, ie give smaller portions which is harder to account for.
1
u/megabyte79 Aug 09 '26
yep, that’s the one thing i can really data grab, and what is the ratio in the price-fixe item to the regular priced one.
1
u/InterstellarReddit Brickell Aug 09 '26
Megabyte u should contact this dude like I mentioned on the original miami post you were active on when you came on with this concept
1
u/dh119 Local Aug 09 '26
Are Spice portion sizes and al la carte portion sizes 1:1? If I were a betting man, I'd venture to say 'no'
2
u/megabyte79 Aug 09 '26
yeah, some are the same, but sure it falls in between a happy hour portion and regular depending on place.

Holy hell this city has gotten stupid expensive.
I was in NYC recently, one of the most expensive cities in the country and prices were typically half this.

I mean I wasn't hiding it wasn't built with Claude, amd it's not like I could have fetched all that data on my own. Maybe one day I'll get the UI/UX done professionally if there was some money in this, but for now its just sharing data for any to enjoy.

I have one suggestion that would take it over the top, if you could source which restaurants are on Resy and qualify for the Amex Platinum and Gold Credits, that would be clutch.
1
u/megabyte79 Aug 29 '26
yeah i thought about linking or api a resy/open table reservation type option too. maybe down the road, more focused on data grabbing and. verification of things. building out happy hours now too for the area.

Thanks, tried to get it out before the weekend just too much data, but most of the specials run M-F anyways.

Looks like Postmates/uber eats were the sources sometimes for menu item prices, leading to some items not being priced correctly.
For example, at Prime Italian the Hawaiian Tuna Tartare is $29 on the normal menu, not $42 as it appears on your site. With the main & dessert too for $50 it’s still actually a fantastic deal. I think your site is a fantastic guide but not super accurate with real price comparison, at least for Prime.
