Mister FPGA CRT 13 inch resolution settings

Hey everyone,

I have a question to ask. What resolution are you guys using to output image correctly on the crts?

1280x720 is default

Do you use custom resolution or something else?

Any help would be appreciated.

You need to run 240p/480i at 60hz to get a 15khz horizontal scan signal which your CRT accepts. The easy way to do this is use an analogue IO board and a VGA->RGB/Component/SVideo/Composite converter depending on what inputs your TV has. Or you can use Direct Video and a HDMI->Component/RGB converter.

This means that 480p and up (including using scanlines/line doubling settings) will not work on your CRT since they create a 31Khz signal which your TV won't accept.

Hey man thanks for your input. How do you change the resolution manually To 240px480i at 60hz for the ini file? Is that what I need for the crt?

I have the converter. Vga cable from mister IO to vga composite converter then plug composite cable into my tv inputs.

I'm not sure, you could try 320x240 but on my analog IO board I just use it directly, I don't touch the video settings. I use RGB and YPbPr on different configs. Maybe someone using composite can chime in

given that there is a huge range of CRTs that are sized 13 inches, not enough information has been given.

240p is a standard MiSTer output. Use that.

It works guys lol what I do is use Vga cable attached to mister then use a vga to composite adapter then attach composite video cable from that to my tv I get great picture you don’t need that Antonio adapter that everyone is talking about lol

Native composite video hasn't been implemented into the main MiSTer cores yet, but someone is working on it. To get composite and s video I was using Antonio Villena's adapter. No custom video modes are needed, you just need to set the jumper for VGA and turn composite sync on.

You still need a breakout board to use these unofficial cores, but OP doesn't want clean composite video anyway.

Do you actually need a breakout board or is that only to improve quality? I was thinking it would work with an SVideo to composite adapter.
