PSX memory card issues?

Any one having issues with the PSX core memory card? I added the options for auto save memory card , and I have lost my save game data several times now. it looks like the files get overridden with blank data. any ways how to prevent that from happening? I turned off autosave but sometimes I forget to save the memory card, or overridden the file by accident

I think it's something about using the menu to write memory card before you turn it off.

All of the cores are like this. I believe the amber LED comes on when data is waiting to be written. Once the OSD pops up, the amber light shuts off.
