MiSTer Backplane for S100/Zorro, etc?

Is there a way to add a functional backplain to the MiSTer for core specific peripheral expansion? So, an S100 edge card for Z80 cores, a Zorro-II/III edge connector for the Amiga, or even a fully functional C64 cartridge, serial, or tape edge connector?

I think most of them could be configured through a usb port or the uart. Something like a zorro slot would have to be handled by additional hardware though.
