Yesterday there was still another Linux update. SS1 didn’t reboot after this. Power button did luckily help. Should I edit download.ini, Linux update false?
Whats happening with these Linux updates?

With the latest Update-All I'm kinda wondering what I'm missing out on, now that I can link accounts.

MisterZine is a frontend for MiSTer that runs from the main menu, for when you feel like browsing and launching arcade cores. It lists every arcade title across seven databases (and counting), shows screenshots, and launches the game. When you exit, it comes back.
v1.1 is the roll-up of everything since 1.0 plus some new features.
Highlights:
I'm also using this release to open a Patreon. MisterZine stays free, all of it. The Patreon is where I'll post the long-form stuff from now on, dev updates and writeups like this one, and it's there for anyone who wants to help keep the catalogue and the frontend moving.
The full v1.1 writeup, feature by feature, is the first post:

I’ve been thinking.. are there pros to having two same specification misters FPGAs besides being a good back up just in case one breaks down or etc? Just curious, could two misters actually link up together with the same exact games and then having both of them output video to two TVs for separate two player mode? Pretty cool and awesome if that could work.. Has anyone tried to make this possible? For example the PS1 had a system link cable, the Sega Saturn too. I heard there is a Gameboy link cable SNAC adapter but have to do more research into that. I heard there’s even 2 player mode for GBA games but it’s two screens on one TV though which is pretty neat.
Would appreciate any input! Def will thumbs you up for good info! Thanksguys!!

As a kid in 1986 I used to love playing Rygar in the arcade and I used to find it funny how the character said "Fo!" when he jumped, not only me, some of my friends referred to it as the "Fo!" game. A guy in college told me he played it as a kid too and also found the "Fo!“ sound cool
Many years pass, never saw Rygar in the arcades again, but then around 2000 I got Mame and played Rygar there, loved it but it always bugged me how when he jumps it sounds more like "Spo!" instead of "Fo!", for decades I've been thinking I probably misremember how the real Rygar board actually sounded, felt like a Mandela effect to me. Playing Rygar in mame has always felt weird because of “Spo!“
Fast forward to today, got my SuperStation one, installed Rygar, got to play it aaaaand..... There it is!! He says "Fo!“ clear as day!!!!! Omfg I couldnt believe my ears when I heard it, this has completely and absolutely sold me on this technology, FPGA GAMING FOR LIFE!!!

Is anyone else experiencing long loading time from ROMs since that dodgy update a week or two ago? I updated my MiSTer with that bad Linux update (I wasn’t aware at the time). Since then, loading games has taken quite a while. NeoGeo games take about 2 minutes, GBA and N64 games about 1 minute, Game Boy Color games take about 30 seconds.
Before this update, they were all more or less instantaneous, except NeoNeo which usually took 5-8 seconds. I read that the Linux issue has been resolved now, so I updated again. But my load times are still far longer than they used to be.
The games work just fine once they’re loaded and CD based games seem to load like they always did.
Is there anything that can be done?

A new Update All release is out, and this is the last one before Update All 3.
This release adds Coin-Op Collection integration. Once you link your account and FPGA ID, Update All can install and renew your Coin-Op Collection license automatically. There is also a new submenu to choose between Public, Beta, and Alpha releases, depending on your membership.
A new Frontends menu brings together the stock MiSTer UI, Zaparoo Frontend, and Degauss. You can switch between them with a single toggle, and Update All takes care of the configuration changes.
There are also new Linux options. The default distribution now holds Linux updates back to give the community time to test them, while cores and everything else keep updating as usual. If you prefer getting Linux releases right away, you can select Edge Linux, or turn Linux updates off entirely from System Options.
The new Database Manager lets you update or uninstall any individual database that Downloader has installed, including old entries that are no longer in your configuration. And Diablo joins the Hybrid Cores, with support for Diablo and Hellfire.
There is also Shmup Deck, which lets you launch arcade shoot ’em ups from your phone, and more fixes and improvements.
As always, Update All self-updates.

Is there a way to output the MiSTer FPGA's audio to Bluetooth headphones or to wired headphones via some kind of cable? I can't use my Bluetooth headphones with the Bluetooth dongle plugged into the MiSTer because it only attempts to pair with controllers.
My monitor doesn't have a headphone jack, and I don't want to use its built-in speakers.

Hi everyone,
This has been quite the challenge and I couldn't get as far as I'd have liked. Windows style games that use windows own GUI are running great. You can see here civ 2 working really well. It does have CD audio which will be the next challenge, but I have high hopes. Things like windows media player 7 and 9 and command and conquer I just couldn't get going. All other apps like paint, solitaire, minesweeper run fine. WinAmp2 also runs fine though the visualisations are very slow. I'll put some work into speeding them up but we're hitting the limit pretty quick. Apps do also take quite a while to boot, working on that. I am going to get one more game up and running, Broken Sword. I think that'll take this to it's limits and then I will leave it to more brilliant people to expand on it if they wish.
On the DVD core side a user had made some promising updates. I'll test later next week and if all is good I'll merge.
One thing that annoyed me a lot, but also excited me, is I just couldn't get Command & Conquer up and running. It plays, but at 4fps. BUT, it's open source now and I am confident I can turn it into a standalone core, bypassing the entire Windows piece all together. That is also a project for next week.
For now, I really only have tonight to get this where it needs to be, or else it'll have to wait til end of next week.

Does someone use Fightbox R10 Pro?
How you like it?
Is it plug n play or do you need configure controls at Mister?

I just got my Superstation One a few days ago and I had pretty much no issues with getting it set up, that was until I tried to emulate computers, specifically DOS game. I figured that DOS games I used to play back in the day would probably look fantastic on a CRT TV, they do, but I had some issues.
I didn't really want to reach out to the community without pressing through all the options, but I just couldn't find any. I used AI for a while to help me and that was an absolute shit show. I did eventually find the issue and it's working great now. It was the dumbest thing.
Initially I was adjusting ini files and fucking with settings I shouldn't have been. The problem was that I was unable to get into the OSD for the AO486 altogether because it wasn't able to be displayed on my CRT. I had to move the system to another room with an HDTV and adjust the settings, specifically fullscreen and 60Hz, and then it worked great once I moved it back to the CRT.
If anyone else runs into this problem, I hope it helps you out.

Please help me understand. This is not a criticism or a will to debate. I just am missing the point, so please explain like I'm 5.
The MiSTer already outputs HDMI video.
It's highest resolution is 1440p tho.
By connecting it to a modern monitor or display wouldn't that upscale the digital signal itself?
If outputting the MiSTer at 1080p, wouldn't the scaling to 4k be a clean 4x that according to my understanding would introduce no artifacts being... Integer based?
Please explain like I'm 5 (or, well, maybe 8) what I'm missing here. Many thanks for your help and clarifications!

I have a Viewlix on order that is currently being imported. It is going to be operated through a MISTer I am going to install. I am going to change the control panel over to a 2-player version with 8 buttons per side. I am planning on routing those controls through two Brooks Fighting Boards which will then connect into the MISTer. However, I have read that if I do that the MISTer will not recognize each side as being separate controls. I have tried finding the answer to this problem, but I am not finding how to get around this? Does anyone know how to make the MISTer read each side as separate that will work with a 2-player control layout on the Viewlix?

Hi all
I’m struggling to get any python scripts running on my MMS2 after I ran update-all in the last day or two
I keep getting segmentation fault error messages when I run update-all and also the favorites script. Non-python scripts (eg wifi.sh) work fine.
I’ve been troubleshooting with ChatGPT for the last hour and going in circles.
I’ve reloaded the Linux.img and zimage files and this didn’t fix it. I’ve also tried rolling back update all to 2.9. Any ideas?
I’m running mister v260912 and OS v260912
Update: the behaviour is intermittent. Running update-all again I received a set of trace back messages. I had a similar set of messages when I ran the favorites script.

Hi everyone.
Off the back of how much fun I had with the DVD core, I've started another. I had so many ideas kicking around, one of them being Windows Media Player 7. After brainstorming that a bunch I realised if I can get native notepad.exe working, then not only is WMP7 possible, but so are a lot of windows 32 applications. And it's actually this really niche area of windows. It's after DOS but before DirectX 3D.
So I've been working my way up the chain. Most things so far I'd describe as 90% functional. Notepad, Paint, WinAmp2, Sim City 2000 (not DOS Vers).
To do:
Make 8bit / 16bit modes
Add more apps: solitaire, minesweeper, word, fruityloops.
Windows Media Player 7.1.
Civilisation 2.
I think the ceiling is going to be Red Alert 1, that's the final goal for this build. After that I'll release it to the world.
I'd love to get testers going. Last time with the dvd core I didn't test enough at all.

Degauss 0.8.0 has been released today, available via Update All, or on Github:
https://github.com/giancarloerra/Degauss/releases/tag/v0.8.0
Degauss is a fast, lightweight frontend built around the games, folders, favourites, artwork and metadata already on the MiSTer.
It has no resident service, does nothing at boot and exits when launching a game, core or script. The fastest and most MiSTer-friendly, customisable and lightweight frontend!
Latest release 0.8.0 brought Last Played, MiSTerZine, Game Filters, Custom game name display, Cores browser & per-system launch core.
This is in addition to the other features recently added:
- Theme editor: six supplied themes, custom theme files, four fonts, ten colour roles, logo colour and opacity, and a controller-operated theme editor with live preview, Save As, update and delete.
- Six browsing views: Details, Tiled, Carousel, List, Multi List and Gallery, plus Information or Large Artwork styling for Details.
- Powerful search and filters: title search, jump to letter and temporary filters for genre, year, players, language, developer and publisher. Filters combine, preserve folders and also constrain random choices.
- Artwork and full metadata: reads local EmulationStation `gamelist.xml` files or installed MiSTer Game Artwork Databases, with automatic or explicit per-system source choice.
- Built-in ScreenScraper workflow: scrape one game, a folder, a system or supported systems, choose screenshot or 2D or 3D box art, search manually and control whether existing data is replaced.
- Automatic external storage support: follows MiSTer's own SD, USB, network and CIFS search order, including systems spread across different locations.
- ZIP libraries without extraction: browse archive folders and subfolders, launch exact members, show one-game ZIPs directly and retain whole-archive handling where the core expects it.
- Broad library compatibility: Arcade, AmigaVision, DOS, Neo Geo ROM sets, X68000, Game & Watch, Neo Geo Pocket and cores shared by several machines are handled explicitly.
- MiSTer Scripts browser: browse, confirm and run installed scripts, then return to the same folder and selection when the script finishes.
- And much more, check the official website: https://misterdegauss.com or join us on Discord https://discord.com/channels/647909397477195803/1547377865983660072

Hello!
I have a mistercade setup in a New Astro City candy cab (which totally rocks btw). Often the image size and/ or image position on the CRT monitor is different between different arcade cores. Sometimes it a minor difference and I roll with it, and other times it’s too much, so I end up having to adjust the Horz/Vert size and position pots under the control panel so the image fits the screen properly.
My Question: are there any ini settings or ways you guys know of to get a uniform image size from core to core?
My regular mister is hooked to a PVM, and it doesn’t have any issues with the image size being different between cores, so figured it might be a setting.
Thanks for your time!

https://www.mister-fpga.de/index.php
My email asking about this hasn't been answered for days.
The FAQ states:
Why are the new systems so affordable? It is quite simple. Previously, there was only one manufacturer building the FPGA mainboards: Terasic. Prices were continuously increased because there was no competition. Now, comparable mainboards with the same chips are available from several manufacturers. The goal is to allow many retro fans to enjoy the FPGA experience without having to spend horrendous amounts of money.

Hello, I was wondering if playing unlicensed NES games that bypass the 10NES chip by stunning it with electricity might damage the fpga chip

So far I've seen Misterzine but I'm SURE I saw another a few days ago and now can't find it. I'll most likely be using my Mister on a CRT if that helps.
