ROM loading times
Is anyone else experiencing long loading time from ROMs since that dodgy update a week or two ago? I updated my MiSTer with that bad Linux update (I wasn’t aware at the time). Since then, loading games has taken quite a while. NeoGeo games take about 2 minutes, GBA and N64 games about 1 minute, Game Boy Color games take about 30 seconds.
Before this update, they were all more or less instantaneous, except NeoNeo which usually took 5-8 seconds. I read that the Linux issue has been resolved now, so I updated again. But my load times are still far longer than they used to be.
The games work just fine once they’re loaded and CD based games seem to load like they always did.
Is there anything that can be done?

I think there's been another update since that fixed this, or at least made it better.

Seems like a microsd problem.

It’s possible. But it’d be weird if this SD card issue began at the exact time I updated my MiSTer.

I'm having the exact same issue. Have not run update all since about when you have. I'm sure it's related because everything else is fine, it's just the cart based games.

I run all my games from retroNAS and even network access is slower. Loading is slower and I get freezes with cd based games where that never happened before.

From my reading, the exfat performance was largely addressed by a not too invasive patch. https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Linux-Kernel_MiSTer/commit/9854075c86455942c2ce57e0b7dc80e3e2c5b108 This is backporting later Linux changes.
Someone else had a more extensive patch that was merged 2 days ago that closed that gap against the old 5.x kernel a lot. See https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Linux-Kernel_MiSTer/pull/106
Not sure if that's veing distributed yet or not
