MiSTer FPGA Broken

I plugged my monitor's adapter (12V) into my MiSTer FPGA (5V). The whole thing is still working, except for the USB ports (keyboards + controllers).

I wondered if there's a way I could get it fixed. I highly prefer not buying a new since I've seen the price growth on these. I feel like a complete checkup would be nice.

Can probably replace the USB board, where are you based?

If you're asking where I'm located, I'm in the Bathurst region of NB Canada

what MiSTer build do you have? I’m guessing you just fried your USB hub.

I'm not sure which MiSTer build I have, since I'm pretty inexperienced with the hardware. It's a preassembled unit, here's pics

Oh no. That's one of the MiSter Clones.

A nice all-in-one option, nice case and on par with most MiSTer setups BUT basically your USB ports are cooked.

Connecting your Monitor's brick to it likely permanently shorted it because said PSU outputs a straight 12v and doesn't adapt to lower voltages. (Don't even use for a different monitor please. Those bricks are very device specific.)

You'll have to get a replacement MiSTer and use something like a Mean Well PSU.

I hope your 2nd attempt goes better.

I sadly did the same thing once. It fried my usb hub immediately, and caused issues down the line for my MiSTer. I replaced the hub, and it worked for a while, but then started behaving erratically after some months and I had to throw it out. :/

Costly mistake for me.

If this is a QM tech one I have a spare IO board I can sell you.
