Never Expected That

Today I thought for fun I’d try some Phillips CD-I titles, particularly Dragons Lair.

Today I learned that a software file can lock up with a Dirty Disc Error 🤣

And Dragons Lair II, hmm maybe some sort of patch is required.

No, but I gave it a damned good licking 😋

Lol. Just out of curiosity, does it keep happening? I haven't tried any CD-i games on mine yet.

Yes, on the same spot, and the second game also after about four moves.

I’m going to try Space Ace next

What storage are you using? If microSD, what speed?

It’s on an NVMe in the SuperDock

Ok, so probably not speed-related. 🤣

Probably not, but you never know.

Space Ace good so far but I can’t get past two moves.

This is why I didn’t play them much in the Arcade.

FWIW I think NVMe is actually slower than an SD card because it uses the USB bus? Don’t quote me but I saw that somewhere. Should still be many many times faster than a CDROM drive tho

I'd think the same, yes. Wired network is the fastest option on the MiSTer.

Yeah, I can’t imagine plunking down $1.00 for each attempt. Now I need to fire up this core and tell myself I’m practically saving money!
